DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

At 6'4", I'd say he'd be a DE up to 270-275 pounds, but if he got up to 280 or 290, then he could easily be a killer DT with both his quickness and strength. But, let's let the staff decide once he comes aboard.

He just already looks so huge and ripped it's hard to imagine him playing anything but DE. Plus with his athletic ability I think he is a waste at DT. Not saying they don't need athletic ability also but he is able to utilize it at DE more.

Glenville vs. Columbus Brookhaven

What, when, where: Nonleague game, 1 p.m., Byers Field, Ridge Road and Day Drive, adjacent to Parmatown Mall. Call 216-541-8326 or 216-268-6000.

Records: Both teams are 1-0.

What to watch: Everything -- just don't look away in the opening game of the new Charity Game doubleheader. Last year's Division II state champion, Brookhaven, had a cakewalk last week in a 48-7 victory over Chillicothe. Brookhaven has an outstanding quarterback in Mike McGee, talented running backs in Markell Lacy and Rodney Holmes, and a solid receiving duo of Jeff Cumberland and Kameron Taylor. However, Brookhaven is now in Division I, and Glenville is one of the top big schools in the state. Quarterback Arvell Nelson, running back Bruce Frieson and receivers Raymond Small, Bryant Milligan and Daven Jones had their way in a 32-0 opening-week win over Mentor. The Tarblooders' speed gives them the edge.

Records: Collinwood 2-0, Glenville 2-0.

What to watch: Led by quarterback Cecil Shorts III, and receivers LaRon Marshall and Rhodes transfer Terence Bryd, the Railroaders have looked impressive in outscoring their first two foes, Shaw and Richmond Heights, by a 95-16 margin. However, Glenville has proven it's one of the top teams in the state with stellar efforts against highly touted Mentor and defending Division II state champion Columbus Brookhaven. The Tarblooders, rated the fastest team in Ohio, are loaded with Division I college prospects. Quarterback Arvell Nelson, lineman Robert Rose, linebacker Reggie Echols and speedsters Raymond Small, Raymond Fisher, Royce Adams and Daven Jones should feast on the synthetic turf.

Rose will be on an official visit to USC this weekend...

Rob Rose and Ray Smalls were on my flight from CLE to LAX Saturday morning....Rob Rose is HUGE

fwiw.... Rob was wearing an OSU muscle shirt....turned it inside out when the guy from USC came to pick them up from airport.

nice guy...reminded him not to have tooooooo much fun, we want to see him in scarlet and grey next year.

Side note: Brandon Braxton's brother was on the flight too...decked out in Oklahoma gear from head to toe. said Brandon was unhappy at OU for awhile, but like it now...he's starting at RT.

Glenville kids like to take their free trips. i'm very confident that Small and Rose end up Bucks. i'm actually glad that Rose went out there with him, especially since Rose hasn't gotten much if any attention from USC and definitely doesn't have an offer at this point. a fellow Tarblooder to remind him of the Buckeyes waiting for him back home is a good thing.

CLEVELAND (OHIO) -- With former Glenville players Ted Ginn and Jamario O'Neal participating in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the selection tour could set up camp at the high school. This year, Robert Rose is the latest Glenville player to be named to the all-star event.

The classic East vs. West match-up will be played and televised live on NBC January 7th at 12:00 p.m. (CST) and will feature the top 78 prep football student-athletes in the country.

Robert Rose is the number twelve ranked defensive end in the country by Scout.com and is a member of the Midwest Hot 100. At 6-4, 240 pounds, Rose hard runner with great strength and athletic ability. "Rose is a hot prospect and he has the scholarship offers to prove it. I love his athleticism and his ablity to close on the football. Raw. Only played football for one year. Huge upside. Gets off the ball quickly and makes plays. Good awareness locating the ball. Excellent pass rusher," says Chris Pool of Scout.com.

"I've got great quickness and I'm faster than most DLs or OLs out there. I react quicker than most players," says Rose. "I want to work on getting my hands on players quicker to get them out of the way and read blocks better."

Rose has yet to make a commitment and is looking at Florida, Illinois, LSU, North Carolina, Ohio State, and USC.

Congrats to Rose and the Glenville progam.
