OSU spring -- Spence offers a challenge
By TIM MAY
Ed Warinner is in charge of coaching the Ohio State offensive line, but that also puts him in position to notice a few things about the four fellows trying to earn starting spots on the defensive line. One player in particular who has stood out so far this spring is sophomore defensive end Noah Spence, Warinner said. As he put it, it's hard not to notice.
?I?m glad he?s on our team, that?s all I can say,? Warinner said, smiling. ?His speed off the edge is amazing. He?ll make us better (on offense) because he gives us something every day to work on. ? He can change the game on the edge. So that?s going to be good for us.?
Vrabel pointed to Spence as a player on OSU’s defensive line he expects to step up this season.
“Noah’s got a lot of ability, a lot of God-given athletic ability,” Vrabel said of Spence, who had 12 total tackles and one sack in his freshman season.
Spence Making Name for Himself
One thing that should make Bennett even better this year is lining up next to Noah Spence. The sophomore out of Pennsylvania is quickly emerging as one of the best players on this OSU defense.

With Ryan Shazier still sidelined, Spence might actually be the best player in the front seven. He?s certainly the most impactful, and the best pass rusher Ohio State has on the roster.
I watched Spence in a number of one-on-one drills against a handful of different offensive lineman, and he was too quick for all of them. The best matchup is usually with Jack Mewhort, but Spence even got the better of Ohio State?s senior left tackle a few times on Tuesday.
He also torched right tackle Taylor Decker on the other side, and it simply wasn?t fair when they matched him up against backup right guard Tommy Brown. To Decker?s credit, he came back and won a couple battles with Spence later on, but there is no question Spence is going to make a lot of offensive tackles look foolish this fall.

I have watched all of the videos that have been posted here (and then some), and I haven't seen a single reporter ask about it.

I didn't really like hearing that at all. Good thing Miller wasn't hurt, and it doesn't really sound like it was a blind-side cheap shot or anything, but something like that is definitely not needed. You have to wonder if there's some bad blood between the two.
Can't wait to watch Spence this year. With the way people have been talking about him this spring, anything less than 10 sacks this season would (unfairly) seem like a disappointment.

I know that he was playing injured and he still did have a pretty solid season but the hype didn't match the production. He wasn't "unstoppable" like they reported in spring practices. Temper your expectations and take those reports with a grain of salt.

But to be honest, if I were vrabel, I'd give him a pat on the back (no, in no way would I ever ever want our most important player injured). Braxton getting up in the defenses face and having to be held back shows the entire team that he's out to be a vocal leader and won't take anything from the defense. And spence is still showing how hard he is to block. I'm sure the hit was unintentional, and no injury was meant, but I do like braxton's response, and im sure some players got hyped over the hit on both sides. Turn this into positive for the team if I'm a coach and raly around it for the season. Every week is getting me more hyped for the season
