Bishop McDevitt's Noah Spence named Maxwell Club's high school player of the year

Bishop McDevitt defensive end Noah Spence was named the Maxwell Club's national high school player of the year, the club announced this afternoon. Spence finished this season with 108 tackles, 12 1/2 sacks and 27 tackles for loss as the Crusaders advanced to the PIAA Class AAA championship game.
Spence, widely regarded as the No. 1 defensive end prospect in the country, committed to Ohio State last month. In his last prep football action, he dominated the ESPN/Under Armour All-American Bowl with three sacks.
Spence is the fifth winner of the award, joining past winners DeVier Posey (Cincinnati LaSalle/Ohio State), Jamarkus McFarland (Lufkin, TX / University of Oklahoma), Sharif Floyd (George Washington, Philadelphia/University of Florida) and Jeff Driskel (Hagerty HS, Orlando/University of Florida).
Spence will be honored Friday, March 2, 2012 at the 75th Maxwell Club National Awards Gala which will be held at the Harrah?s Atlantic City Resort. Tickets for the gala are available for purchase on the club?s website
