For Vrabel, both sides now - The Boston GlobeFor Vrabel, both sides now
He earns 3 sacks and receiving TD

FOXBOROUGH - The list of receivers at Tom Brady's disposal is like a never-ending buffet. But that doesn't mean one more guy can't be added to the plate.
Linebacker Mike Vrabel, in his seventh season in New England, has been known to pop up as an eligible receiver at times. In yesterday's 52-7 win over Washington, he was at it again, catching his second touchdown pass of the season.

Vrabel's contributions don't end on defense; linebacker has caught 10 touchdown passes for Patriots offense

The "V" in Mike Vrabel's name also stands for versatility.
Last week, the New England outside linebacker had three sacks, forcing a fumble on each, and substituted as a blocking back and caught his 10th career touchdown pass. He then wrapped up a rout of Washington by recovering an onside kick.
This week, he gets to renew acquaintances with an old buddy, Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle and part-time blocking back Dan Klecko. It was Klecko who beat Vrabel for a score in the AFC title game in January.
The unbeaten Colts and Patriots have developed quite a rivalry over the years. So, too, have Vrabel and Klecko, who won two Super Bowl rings together as Patriots from 2003 to 2005.
"I would certainly hope I would have one thing up on Klecko, and that would be career touchdowns at the end of our careers," said Vrabel, who is ahead 10-2 on such scores, including two in Super Bowls.
At 6-4 and 261, Vrabel can be sneaky fast. He'll engage a lineman with a quick block, then break loose and into the clear in the end zone. His 10 touchdowns constitute all of his career catches, and those plays covered a total of 14 yards. The linebacker gets the most out of his yards.

No Class.
SNIPER26;985631; said:Ok?????????????????????????? Yeah, the Pats' defense really needs to stop running up the score, I guess. I'm not really understanding why Vrabel and other defensive guys are not being classy.

FOXBOROUGH - Safety Rodney Harrison didn't know much about linebacker Mike Vrabel before signing with the Patriots five seasons ago, but he's come to appreciate playing alongside him.
"He's the consummate pro, probably the smartest football player I've ever been around," Harrison said. "People underestimate him. I just don't think he gets the credit he deserves."
While credit might sometimes escape Vrabel, opposing quarterbacks have not.
At a time when some might believe he'd be slowing down, Vrabel, now in his 11th season, is enjoying a career year. His 8 1/2 sacks already have him one shy of his career high, and they lead all NFL linebackers this season.
The 32-year-old Vrabel also has been a force playing the run as an outside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 defense. Coaches have credited him with 47 tackles, third-most on the team, and even when he hasn't made stops, he's been strong in securing the edge and forcing running plays back inside, a crucial part of the job.

Mike Vrabel said:I don’t think that guys are going to draw on an old retired coach and old washed up players to pump us up.
OH10;986127; said:Actually, I think Vrabel has no class because he takes cheap shots at other players and because of his recent comments about Hall of Famer Don Shula and the '72 Dolphins.
But apparently some here did not get that - which I'm suprised about, because this isn't the first time I've railed against no-class Vrabel for his on-field antics and his off the field arrogance.
