DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

From OSU press release (email)
June 21, 2010

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Duron Carter and Keith Wells will not be part of the Ohio State football team for the 2010 season, head coach Jim Tressel announced today.

Carter, a wide receiver from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., caught 13 passes for 176 yards as a freshman last season. Wells, a defensive end from Gainesville, Ga., who redshirted the 2009 campaign, saw limited action for the Buckeyes as a freshman in 2008.
Good luck Keith.

Wells was one of the kids I was most excited about for the 2007 class. He still has three years of eligibility and I think he could've really blossomed into a force in his sophomore/junior years ala Thad Gibson. Too bad he didn't stick it out...

Too bad for him that he used up his redshirt year just before transferring.

This is why I'm hoping he really reconsiders. Him sitting out a year could be a year spent earning more PT with this team. Sure he could go to another school and probably be in the 2-deep by just being on the roster. But I'd love to have him stay.

Writing has been on the wall here...I had heard he was really struggling in practice this spring...looked like an animal physically but never panned out. Good luck Keith.

That is contrary to what I heard, which is that he had a very good Spring, and was primed to make an impact this year. Academically too, he seems to be fine. My guess is that he didn't land the starting job, and got more than a little disappointed. Either ways, I was really excited when we landed Keith, and wish him all the best. He is just such a nice kid that I cannot help but continue rooting for him....I just hope for his sake that he is making the right decision.

I'm not sure this is about playing time at all.
