DE Joey Bosa (Def ROY, 3x Pro Bowl, Los Angeles Chargers)

"Our contract discussions and offers to the representatives of Joey Bosa have been both fair and structurally consistent with the contracts of every other Chargers player."

It's not about consistency within the organization you twats.

And when you look at the history of chargers first round picks over the last 10-15 years, over 50% have had extended hold outs. So even looking at their own organization consistency doesn't help their cause.

The view from the San Diego barca-loungers:

View Poll Results: Who do you blame for Bosa not being signed yet?
Chargers 50 24.15%
Joey Bosa 52 25.12%
Bosa's Agents/Family 90 43.48%
Bacon 15 7.25%

Always funny how fans need to complain about the millions paid to the entitled athletes and agents, so they take the side of the billionaires that are charging $400 for a ticket to a preseason game in a publicly funded stadium paid for by fucking the ticket holder with a 20 year municipal tax levy.

Was thinking the same.

Both a sense of pride/union strength is what the Chargers are up against. Joey doesn't want to be the only Top 5 pick in 5 years since the new CBA to NOT get the bonus structure he deserves. Guessing the the player's union wants the same. He's standing up for a whole slew of future #3 slotted picks.

Chargers are out of their element.

You would think the players union would get involved at some point wouldn't they?

You have a collectively bargained pay slot and a team trying to pay less than that slot.

maybe too simplified, I'm not a Ubet
They aren't trying to pay less. The CBA defines the salary and the signing bonus. It doesn't specify that a signing bonus is 100% due at signing. For some reason outside of the top 10 it's customary not to pay the signing bonus at the signing. At that point it should be just called a bonus.

Former Ohio State star Joey Bosa is currently in a contract dispute with the San Diego Chargers. His representatives released a statement following the Chargers’ releasing their own on Twitter earlier on Wednesday.

Here’s the official Statement from Joey Bosa’s representatives, as shared by ESPN’sAdam Schefter:

It is unfortunate the San Diego Chargers have decided to manipulate facts and negotiate in the media. The team surely is not strengthening its relationship with Joey Bosa by taking this stance and making their position public.

We have decided that we will not engage in public negotiations or discuss numbers and/or terms in this negotiation.

We will say, that it is ironic that the team now takes issue with the timing of Joey’s arrival, since the Chargers unilaterally decided to remain silent for the first 14 days of training camp instead of replying in a timely fashion to the proposal we made on the eve of training camp on July 28th.

At this point, all we can do is continue to fight for a fair contract on behalf of our client, as we do for all of our clients. The Chargers can focus on trying to sway public opinion, but our focus will remain on our client and securing a contract for him that is fair and consistent with his draft position.
