I'm sure everyone remembers this tragedy:

Ohio State gridder dies in car accident - Ohio State University reserve defensive end Jayson Gwinn - Brief Article

Jet, Jan 10, 1994

Ohio State University reserve defensive end Jayson Gwinn, 20, recently died in a two-car collision shortly after leaving a nightclub where a teammate had been shot.
Gwinn, a sophomore was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, university spokesman Malcolm Baroway said.
Just before he died, Gwinn had taken teammate Marvin "Obie" Stillwell to the hospital. Stillwell had been shot once in the buttocks outside a nightclub near the campus. Stillwell was hospitalized in good condition.
After leaving Stillwell, Gwinn's car collided with another driven by a 21-year-old Ohio State student. The other student was hospitalized in fair condition.
Per a discussion on BN, a recent episode of Extreme Home Makeover recently built a home in Whitehall for a 911 Hero, Jason Thomas. His son was identified as 13 year-old Jayson Gwinn..if anyone saw the show, the kid looked to be about 17-18 years old, but in fact, he is a 13 year old manchild. I did some research, he is likely Jayson's son:

Former Brookhaven High School and Ohio State University player Jayson Gwinn died nearly 11 years ago, but youth football players gathered at his alma mater for the second consecutive year Friday and Saturday to play in his honor.

Gwinn, who was a 20-year-old defensive end for the Buckeyes, died in a car accident Dec. 12, 1993. Last year, the 10th anniversary of the football star's death, youth football programs in and around Columbus organized the first annual Jayson Gwinn Bowl.

Gwinn's 11-year-old son, Jayson Jr., plays for a team from Whitehall and was honored with a plaque and photograph of his late father.

You know whats crazy. A buddy and I were watching it and I said that I thought I saw a picture of Gwinn on the wall next to the bed. It was the one where he is standing in the shoe at an angle with his hands in front of him. I searched forever to find the pic, but with no results. Thats wild. Anyone who can find the pic would be appreciated.

This is really a cool thread. Jayson was a real up-and-coming star. His untimely death was just so tragic. I remember watching him play in limited duty and thinking he could blossom into something real special. He and Marlon Kerner were real close, and Marlon actually wore Jayson's #49 in the 1994 Holiday Bowl in honor of his friend.

Jayson Gwinn was a star during a time when I had almost no contact with the US. In 1999, I won an award at Ohio State and I returned to Brookhaven to share stories about time with Mandela and other things that I thought might just pay back a little for what I had gained at that high school. I saw some "shrines" to Gwinn in the hallways at Brookhaven and wondered who he was. I didn't realize that he had played for Ohio State. This thread really helped me understand a bit about him.

I am so impressed with this family and the kind of people they are. What a role model that man is.

This thread is very inspirational and it gives me some hope about humankind at the end of a day in which some folks really disappointed me. God bless these people.

Grad21, a well-deserved GPA!

Jayson was one of the students I got to work with.

He was one of those guys who always had a smile on his face and was a genuinely good guy.

I remember that Indiana game where he started to make his presence felt. He set the record for TFL in a game IIRC, and was on his way to being a dominanat DE.

It really shook the team when he died, especially his brother.
