Former DC Kerry Coombs (Cincy Bearcats Interim Head Coach)

These weren't just empty words by Day. These are fighting words. He said the following about Coombs yesterday in the most official public setting:
  1. He wouldn't confirm whether he was allowed to call plays this week
  2. He gave him a vote of no confidence
  3. Only reason Paul Rhoads isn't bring promoted is due to it not being fair to RHODES
  4. Day said he's going to get more involved and "make things uncomfortable."
What else do you want him to do? This is public humiliation for Coombs. His boss is saying and he needs to have his hand held and that if Rhodes had familiarity with personnel he'd probably be calling plays now.

Few things on that game... our offense forced Clemson to go pass heavy, our LBS were very good and Clemson had a dog shit oline. Still gave up 400 yards passing though which all of us disregarded.

which might be the silver lining to this one. Despite all the fuckery, OSU could have still won this game but because they didn't, Day is going to do something about it.

Overall I'm still encouraged a la 2018. I don't know that you can unfuck this defense to be a playoff team but you can still go win the B1G East, The Game and the B1G CCG. It won't be a cakewalk but it can be done.

For all the complaining about inserting Rhodes, or hiring a new DC mid season, none of that is happening. Our staff ain't changing until season's end. But we have the talent to still win the conference, and get to the CFP(though I'd prefer a NY6 bowl, as that would be a more realistic win and better for morale going into the off season).

Can they? The system has been broken last year too. And many of us(my hand is up high) thought that a full off season would fix a lot of things. OSU finished 2020 with a total defense ranked 112 out of 130 programs. Minny and Oregon look like an extension of what we saw against Bama. And no one would confuse the first 2 opponents in 2021 of a legendary 2020 Bama team. I'm wondering if the next 4 weeks that you speak of just produce high scoring contests in which OSU wins and the offense looks good and that in turn masks the defense

Yeah, in spite of how bad Ohio State played

1) crappy defense giving up 35 points
2) inconsistent offense, 1) lack of several 3rd and 4th down (short yardage) conversions, 2) sub par running game, and 3) several mis-reads/overthrown pass/dropped passes, etc.

Stroud did complete 35/54 for 484 yards and 3 TDs; Ohio State was still in the game up Oregon converting the 1st down (series after the interception) at the 1:56 mark left in the game.

I'll say Ohio State was a better team than Oregon; however, they just didn't play like it Saturday. They still are potentially the best team in the B1G and their 3 teams goals

1) beat scUM
2) win B1G
3) win a National Championship

are still obtainable this season. After this game there are at least 7 non B1G teams (i.e. Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, Oregon, Oklahoma, aTm, and Clemson) ahead of us in the pecking order for the CFPs so we'll need some help to bump into the top 4. Fortunately there is a lot of football still to be played.

Bama: Yeah, they will take one of the spots.
UGA: Could but their offense is dogshit right now.
UCLA: Oregon should take care of them
Oregon: Should take a spot but the PAC is always known for some good fuckery after dark.
Oklahoma: The Big XII is a jalapeño fart
aTm: Lost their QB
Clemson: ACC = LULZ

So all they need is Bama, Oklahoma, and Clemson to win out, the PAC to do PAC things and the Buckeyes are back in the CFP and hopefully get another shot at Clemson before Bama runs left all day on tOSU.
