DC/LB Coach Jim Knowles (Official Thread)

Eichenberg and Stover are only going to be rJRs right?

Seems like they would have clout in the locker room but who knows?

Anything could be plausible in the off season. But we also have Cam Brown, Lathan Ransom, Ronnie Hickman, Cody Simon, Josh Proctor and Taron Vincent as guys who have been in the program 3-4yrs as well. And all could see significant playing time next year.

Thing is, that player also needs to be one of your best players. And our veterans aren't the most talented, the younger kids are...
McCall spoke up and was listened too. Ideally it’s your ‘best’ player. Or your smartest player who can help his teammates succeed in the scheme. Or maybe it’s personality ..somebody everyone respects.

I think picking up McCallister was BIG, and that may be the voice the defense was looking for

Hopefully, he fits in like the other successful portal guys. I’m optimistic that he’ll fit the culture. Supposedly, he’s spoken extensively with Day and, of course, with Knowles. If they thought he’d be a problem/distraction, I’d hope he wouldn’t be making the move.

Kid has been an academic All-Big 12 player the last 3 years. High character/quality kid.

His addition is huge. I think he’s going to fit in perfectly.

Watching that video makes me excited about the kid, but also Knowles D. There are players flying all over aggressively, yet there are always a couple players around the ball on every down. Pretty impressive scheme.

2022 could be the year with Knowles, maybe we will finally get "The Return Of The SILVER BULLETS":

The Legend of the Silver Bullets

The only unit that stood tall amidst the chaos? The defense -- or should I say "the Silver Bullets?" Ask any Texas, Iowa, Oregon, or Miami fan. Jim Heacock's unit is the grizzled face of the program, like the coiled rattlesnake on the Gadsden flag with the famous warning: Don't tread on me. Only for Ohio State it's more like "you can count on me."

When the defense takes the field, we often breathe a sigh of relief. That's because the "bullets" are a nightmare for offensive coordinators. Like the Wolf in Pulp Fiction, they clean up the messes made by the offense and special teams. As Adam Rittenberg reports:

DeVier Posey has been spoiled by Ohio State's defense, and he knows it.

When Posey, a junior wide receiver for the Buckeyes, watches the Silver Bullets do their thing from the sideline, he goes through the same thought process.

"You're just waiting," Posey said. "If we don't get a three-and-out, well, when's the turnover coming? If we get don't get a sack, somebody's going to pick the ball up or we're going to get an interception. When those things don't happen, I'm almost surprised."
