DB Nate 'War Daddy' Ebner (3x Super Bowl Champ, USA Rugby)

I know this is way the hell out in front but is it conceivable that this guy could make an NFL team as a special teams maniac? Why not?

I havent gotten to see enough of him at safety but the way he plays special teams is, well, special. Larry Izzo made pro bowls out of special teams. There are terrible receivers in the league because they arent afraid to go do it on the special teams. If he showed very well at the combine, which I'm sure he would, he could get a serious look and then make it with the level of attitude and talent he has.

Dont know how much Rugby pays but the league minimum in the NFL is a pretty sweet paycheck. Just sayin.

I thought the same thing myself, but then the NFL has basically nixed that facet of the game, so it could be hard for anyone to catch on strictly for special teams. Sucks, because I think Nate would make a team very happy on ST.

Our kickoff coverage unit is sweet this year... Ebner, Shazier, and Rod Smith go hard at it, and then you have Orhian and some other guys making sure nobody breaks a huge one. Very fast/athletic/excitable group covering kicks. Good to see.

If Evenge is able to make it back... it will be one of the best in the country.

I don't think Evege will be back...at any point.

You provide linky?

Seriously, too deep in the depth chart to try or was the injury too much?

Sad... If everyone had his kind of spirit... Never seen him do anything but jump around celebrating stuff on the field. Seems like a great teammate.

Spring Injury Updates Donnie had no luck at all, glad he's staying on the sideline to cheer on the Bucks.

Back to Nate and his neck roll...

DEFENSIVE BACK // NATE EBNER
Age: 21
Year: Senior
Vitals: 6 feet, 205 pounds
Hometown: Hilliard (Davidson)
Major: Exercise Science

He?s a football convert, because he never played the game in high school, majoring instead at rugby. But that wound up being his ticket to places across the globe when he was selected to play on the under-19 and under-20 U.S. national teams. He was MVP of those respective teams in world tournaments in 2007 and ?08. Since joining the Buckeyes as a walk-on his third year in school in 2009 he has risen to become a special teams dynamo, especially on kickoff coverage.

Q ? Now you?re getting to travel to places such as Lincoln and Champaign, but with that rugby gig you really made the rounds, didn?t you?

A ? I think there?s only five states I haven?t been to. Then talk about the countries, I?ve played in Guyana, Dubai, all over the place in Great Britain, like Wales and Scotland, and in Ireland. It feels like I?ve played rugby everywhere.
