Sporting News Mid-Season All-America Team

Ohio State was one of four schools with two players on Sporting News Today?s inaugural Midseason All-American Team, released Friday.

The Buckeyes placed linebacker James Laurinaitis and and cornerback Malcolm Jenkins on the team.

?Forget All-American. Laurinaitis might rank as the nation?s top college football player,? Sporting News Today?s Dave Curtis said. ?He belongs in any discussion of the great linebackers in Buckeye history.?

?Jenkins? penchant for big plays on defense and special teams keeps popping up in Big Ten play,? Curtis added.

STEP-AND-GO, GO

Dancing . . . football . . . sharing . . . Jenkins finds time to excel
Saturday, October 25, 2008 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus

-- If Jim Tressel ever allowed it, Ohio State senior Malcolm Jenkins could rip off an end-zone dance unlike anything you've ever seen.
"I think the whole country would be amazed," said Jhade Barnes, a 2006 Ohio State graduate and brother of Jenkins in the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. "It would be shock and awe, and I know all the brothers across the world would love to see that."
Beyond his role as maybe the best cornerback in the country and maybe the Buckeye playing at the highest level the past few weeks heading into tonight's game with No. 3 Penn State, the senior captain has taken on an outside interest rarely seen among football players.

Just met Malcolm!!! He was up here at halloween USA with his GF. Very cool guy and it was very cool just by chance meeting my favorite Buck on this 2008 team. Its funny I see more of these guys on the outskirts than I ever do on campus. I met James at Best Buy last year.

Can't wait for Jenkins to show everyone in the nation what he is about on Sundays. But, not before he gets his 4th set of gold pants.

I hear often that Davis from Illinois is better. No way... He doesn't have ONE SINGLE advantage over Jenkins. IMO, Jenkins has been the best corner in the NCAA since his Sophomore year.

The arguement is Davis is a better cover corner. HAHA, REALLLLLY? I personally feel people don't shy away from Davis where as the same can't be said for Jenkins. People avoid Jenkins he's that good.

Alot of that is by Draft scouts, who base their opinion on projections. Malcolm has hit his peak already and has shown what he can do and that he can do it week in and week out. Vontae has shown flashes of brilliance but hasn't shown the consistency that Malcolm has. All I got to say is if I'm gonna pay someone 20mil (pocket change :wink2:) I'm gonna take the guy who I know what he's made of. That being said, give me Malcolm!
