NFL Draft Dish: Top 10 prospects for 2009
Posted: May 4, 2008

3. Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State, 6-1/210. Jenkins almost entered the '08 draft and likely would have been a first-round pick if he had. Still, returning for his senior season will enable him to round out his game and challenge to be the No. 1 cornerback drafted. He is tall and athletic but must do a better job of playing the ball instead of focusing on making the tackle after the catch. Jenkins' draft status could be hindered by the fact Ohio State could have five or six players drafted in the '09 first round, so scouts could knock him as looking better than he is because he is surrounded by such elite talent.

cont'd...

I'm almost positive of this, but wasn't just Laurinaitis and Jenkins invited to the Mansion and Beanie got edged out at the tailback position by Knowshon Moreno and James Davis?

That would be rediculous if Beanie AND Boone didnt get to go. At the same time though if Boone did go, youd have 3 Buckeyes, and 4 might be pushing it.

No school has had more than 3. Ive tried searching it but I cant find the 2008 team anywhere.

This is just basing it on press releases from schools with players on the list that were released in May (in regards to Beanie not making it).

Here's one from Alabama that said both Moreno and Davis were there and I've never seen 3 tailbacks on the list.

Rolltide.com – The Official Web Site of University of Alabama Athletics

On the flip side, I remember an Auburn player completely turning down the honor of Playboy All-American and attending the mansion because he thought it was morally wrong. But Playboy still doesn't need permission to put his name on the list.

Its funny when you google "2008 Playboy all americans" the first hit that comes up is from you posting on BN in march. Moreno is a souphomore, and even if he wasnt he's not better than Beanie.

Don't tell ESPN and their army of SEC reporters that mask as ESPN "columnists" this (that Beanie is better than Moreno).

What's amazing is, a consensus poll puts Beanie as one of the early Heisman favorites (I doubt James Davis is on this list. Moreno probably is b/c SEC reporters love him and are jaded).

The one position that makes me laugh on the Playboy list is Pat White over Tebow (the reigning Heisman winner).
