DB Eugene Clifford (official thread)

I wouldn't say he's alike to Nate salley. The only thing he and Salley have similar is that they're both around 6'2.

Eugene Clifford looked like he has Whitner's Speed with Salley's size. Not to mention he looked like a very smart player on the field, and is one hell of a wide receiver also.

He easily looked athletic enough to be a cornerback. He could be a runningback if he wanted too. He's that talented.

If I were scout, I would rate him as the #1 safety in the nation. He's THAT good. I would almost venture to say he's better than Ben Martin. If anybody from Ohio is a "Can't Miss" type prospect like Wells is, he's my pick.

Not sure if Clifford needs bumping...he'll get lots of posts during this recruiting ride. Intriguing to consider that possibly the best WR prospect in the country doesn't really get the ball thrown his way in his high school's offense. In other words, he's fascinating in the chance that he is like Braylon (there, I said it) without anyone really knowing it. Of course, everyone knows the talent is there.

Funny you should mention Braylon. Earlier in this thread, I compared him favorably to *cough*PrescottBurgess*cough* when he was in high school and H&G said that that was a pretty good comparison.
Haha... we need to start comparing him to some BUCKEYES! :scum4:

After further review, I believe I would flop Clifford to the top prospect in the state in Martin's place. He makes big time plays on both sides of the ball at the highest level of competition in the whole country. Not by a huge margin seeing as how Martin is a stud as well, but I have to say I think Clifford is the #1 prospect in Ohio and is as close to a must get as you can get.

I love Clifford as much as anyone on this board and he is a tremendous prospect but I still think he is 1b and Martin is 1A.

Martin is on his high schools 4X1 team. Can you imagine that type of speed coming form the Defensive end spot. Think Will Smith.

This is off topic, but this is my opinion on the situation.

We are loaded at DE, even with the injuries we have had, now dont get me wrong, Martin is a definant stud no doubt, but I think that most want him simply to prove a point that we can get that Ohio kid to come to OSU rather than ND, who will make a more concentrated effort to reel in OH prospects. I think alot of people want Martin mostly because we are in a recruiting battle with ND for his signature. I definantly would love to have Martin, but thats just my opinion. People see that we are going to go head-to-head against ND for Martin, so they want him even more.

I agree with CB40, they should be 1A and 1B.

As for Clifford, it would be devastating to lose him to Michigan.

i wonder if Chambers verbal to UM helps out our chances any with Clifford. Not that i see him shying away from competition, but now we are both even in having one safety verbal.

:osu:

nah it doesn't hurt, just like Oliver committing didn't really hurt OSU. I would watch out for the Michigan summer camp, if he doesn't commit during that week, then it will be a race between OSU and UM. Hopefully we got enough SEC speed to win it. :)
