DB Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown (DB Coach Slippery Rock Univ.)

so is it DB or WR for corey brown?i think that he would be a lockdown corner and we could use him this yr. He would also be a good receiver but were really deep at receiver and need him more on D. I would love to see torrence at safety and him at corner, what do you think?

Really? Our 3rd best receiver is a RB.

Not really, we're actually quite deep at WR, we just have young unproven guys so far outside of Posey and Sanz. We'll be fine at WR, we need Corey at DB a lot more than WR at this point.

After 2010 both positions will be positions of need especially if there are early departures such as torrence or posey.

Howeever between now and end of 2010 I'm sure young guys will step up and make this look less daunting.

Pretty sure Devon Torrence will be a 4th year senior next year... Hopefully Corey works hard and dedicates himself to whichever position the coaches feel like he can excel at, I think he could be really special player.

So, we're not deep. We have athletes at the position but there isn't much to be confident in outside of Posey and Dane save for maybe Carter.

I understand what you're saying there, but doesn't that happen every year in CFB? Thats why u have spring ball and practices, to see who's gonna be the next to step up. Posey was unproven coming into this year as was Carter and they did alright. I just think if u look at the depth chart at CB, in the next 2yrs will be decimated. There are a lot more younger guys that just need reps to prove themselves at WR than at CB. We have 3 WRs alone coming in this recruiting class and one CB(so far).

Obviously we are yet to see it on the field, but we have really recruited WR well lately. So while in the Rose Bowl we only had two dependable receivers, come fall it is going to be very difficult for someone who doesn't know the position to catch up and compete. In fact, you might argue that our depth was only suspect because Thomas and Washington anticipated this.

Maybe Carter? I know he had some disciplinary problems but what else did he need to do to distinguish himself as a freshman in your eyes?

I don't assume that Brown would not be able to crack the WR rotation, but at this point in time without any privileged information, reps looks a lot easier to come by in the defensive backfield.

But this year proved that just because they have potential doesn't mean they're deep. We thought Thomas and Washington would step up and they didn't. I like our WR's but I wouldn't call them deep. Not yet.

No, we're deep, our WRs just didn't have that many opportunities. Throughout the year we didn't know if we were a passing or running team. We seem to have a better balance after watching the Rose Bowl, and TP should be given some more freedom to make plays with his arm, which will greatly benefit our WRs. Put C. Brown on D and let him wreck havoc with his ball skills. I honestly know what position at DB you put him at, but I know he's a terror for offense when the ball's in the air!
