NBC lands Dan Patrick for football By George M. Thomas

The countdown to football season began with Monday's departure of C.C. Sabathia.
For the big news of the moment: NBC has landed one of the few whales in the broadcast pond that wasn't already working on its Football Night in America wrap and pregame show for NBC Sunday Night Football.
The dry-witted Dan Patrick, formerly of ESPN, on Sept. 7 will join what quickly has become the Sunday highlight show for NFL fans. He will join Bob Costas, Cris Collinsworth, Jerome Bettis, Tiki Barber, Peter King and Keith Olbermann, reuniting with his former partner from ESPN's SportsCenter for the first time since Olbermann left for greener pastures.
The deal calls for Patrick to work on football telecasts, any Super Bowls that NBC covers and the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Patrick said that ever since leaving ESPN last year, he and Olbermann have wanted to work together on TV again.

I have to say, I greatly prefer Dan Patrick to the alternatives. In Dayton, you either get the DP show or Mike and Mike in the Morning chased by The Herd. I'd rather staple my junk to my stomach than listen to Colin Cowherd, and M&M just isn't very good.

So, it's the DP show. Yeah, he's a little smug, but he's not even close to the worst guy on radio.

Patrick & Olbermann together again.

Wow. NBC Sports sure has come a long way in the past five years when all they had was NASCAR, Notre Dame, and the XFL.
While I'm not a NASCAR fan, I have to say that having NASCAR on TV apparently isn't a bad thing.

As for Dan Patrick, I can agree that he's a bit smug, but it almost seems as if he wants you to feel that way. Perhaps Colin Cowpatty wants you to think that too, but somehow he comes off more arrogant. And Mike and Mike...yeah, that's just hard to listen too...so I've turned over to Steve Szaban who at least makes me laugh.
