Cure for a lack of pass rush.

Here's a thought. If the current D-Ends aren't or can't get the job done, why not drop Bobby C. down to rush end. He's 6-4, 260lbs, with 4.5 speed! That, was , I believe, Will Smith's size and speed! Then start Freeman in his spot. Think about the speed factor!

Pass rushing is an art that is perfected by years of repetition and experience...to assume BC would be a natural pass rusher is quite a gamble..almost as much as a gamble that Freeman could hold down BC's SAM position without dropoff

Hopefully "the cure" goes by the name(s) of Doug Worthington, Lawrence Wilson, and/or Ryan Williams.
or Barrow or Gholston

as usual....grad 21 is spot on in his assessment....

there are a number of young men ready to jump up.....i would add abdullah (sp..i can never get his name right) as a third member of the list...

all will be fine folks....the talent assembled is frightening....

Worthington is going to be fun to watch....what a talent and a great young man to boot....he is going to be special, special.....as a freshman? that is hard to predict...but he will be special...

i have visions of him just completely collapsing the strong side of the offensive line with his size and power...he could be unprecedented....

worthington and tim tebow said "yes sir" and "thank you" more than any two kids i have talked with....well raised young men....

shouldnt be a train wreck....with grad21, mili, 27 and i telling him he is full of it.....

it's funny that BP has the reputation of being "cultish" b/c it stomps on certain ideas quickly and with vigor....

just b/c someone has a thought, doesn't mean it's correct...

nobody here called him stupid or anything, just corrected him/her....

I thought Richardson looked solid too. However, I'd have to say that Gholston is in the lead right now (in my book, which is solely based on the spring game).

obviously u havnt looked at other players numbers.
Gholston = 6'3-6'4 250-260 4.5....supposedly ran under 4.5 at nike camp a few years back. He will be great. (and we can once again out do lloyd.)

Taosman is on to something here. You get the best players on the field. I think a roving linebacker who rushes the quarterback from varying angles coupled with a three-man line makes for a devastating defense. Lots of NFL teams adopt 3-4 blitzing packages. With the talent we have at LB (5, maybe 6 players who absolutely should be on the field), I don't think it is so far-fetched to suggest that we should throw four linebackers at the offense at a time if the ends are not getting the penetration we need. Maybe the front line gets it done this year, but they were merely adequate last year.

Alan said is that the guys we have will be "fine." Maybe, maybe not. Again, they were not "fine" last year, they were mediocre. Freeman and D'Andrea on the field at various times with Carpenter, Hawk, and Shlegel seems to be a better assemblage of talent, IMO. I agree that we cannot know for sure whether Carpenter would make for a good DE, but we can know that the athleticism we possess in the second row would make for a devastating defense from the 3-4 set where the offense never knows which of the guys from middle four is going to gun for the backfield, and at which angle.
