Crowd for National Championship

With Buckeye fans already having shown up in massive numbers to both the Big Ten Championship game and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, what can we expect the crowd to look like in Dallas?

Tickets to the Sugar Bowl were expensive enough, airfare was outrageous, and hotels near the French Quarter were averaging $400 and up a night. From what I've seen, the ticket prices have DOUBLED what they were to the Sugar Bowl. And I can't imagine airfare or hotels are any cheaper. How can fan bases do this?

There likely will be very few, if any at all, students attending the game. No way can they afford that.

Can you imagine if/when they go to 8 teams?


So, what's the verdict? Does the scarlet and gray nation show up again?

No way OSU doesn't fill up 60%+ of the stadium. Second biggest alumni base (500,000+) in the nation, and travels as well as any fan base in America.

A lot of fans like to drive and thats going to be tough on Duck fan...thats more than a 30 hour drive...not bad for Buckeyes especially since we're well represented across the country.

They are giving away 1000 free tickets to students via lottery. Have to have BuckiD and iD at Dallas though so can't resell.

Whatever the specific problems may be (travel distance, ticket price, burden of back-to-back weekends, etc.) I'm certain Ohio State will have a better fan showing than Oregon.

Oregon has not sold their allotment. Selling tickets at face value on their athletic/ticket website.

I would expect at least 65%+ to be Buckeye fans. Many of the reasons have already been delineated. Fortunately it was only a 5 hour drive for us to Indy, 8 hours to NOLA, and 10 1/2 to Arlington. The ability to drive is huge. As JXC mentioned in another thread, that was the tipping factor in him going.

Interesting to see on StubHub that on the OSU side the tickets in the upper corners have mostly stayed above face (a few sections with at or barely below face tickets), compared with a not insignificant amount of upper sections on the Oregon side that are below face value by up to $80.

I'm looking at it as once in a lifetime. Went to Indy and realized at half time my hands were sore from clapping and I was having trouble talking. High fives given to Buckeye Fans I had never met. Watching Wiscy file out in the third quarter. I wanna do it all again!!! Pluck the ducks, GO BUCKS!!!
