GL - This is now officially way, way off topic.

Bucknola - Ever hear of a group called the Hell Divers down your way or of a book called Hell Divers Rodeo? Great read, just wondered if it was true. These guys supposedly go out into the Gulf and tie up to the oil rigs and then spear huge fish while wearing polyesther '70s clothes. Anywhere but Louisiana I'd think the whole thing was BS.

Rugby,

Yes
I have the second book from the same author, The Hellpig Hunt by Humberto Fontova. My mother-in-law gave it to me. I am pretty sure she thinks Humberto and I are kindred spirits.

The tarpon rodeo is part fishing, part strip club and all good times.
I have not read the helldivers rodeo, yet.

Life is LA is quite a bit outside the normal.
Kill it and grill it lives.

When I moved here it was for a job and a woman. Neither are in my life now.:) I have been here at since least 1991, I may never leave.

I initially thought this place was a ass backwards, third world republic. It grows on you. People are friendly, the pace of life is slower and the cost of living is quite low. We do not need a reason to party.

The developer at work that went to Afghanistan came in my office today and asked if I had my deer food plot planted yet. In how many offices can you have that kind of conversation?

Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Come on Sears, you gotta have an original idea on this subject.

GL

We have people that put out feeders that distribute corn kernels at scheduled times.

A food plot down here could be clover, rye grass, with a mix or other grain feed. We don't plant corn or soybean, it would not grow.

The places I have hunted here are pine forest or so thick you could not get through. The only way to get a deer would be to get it as it comes or goes from its food source.

More fun facts. You can kill 6 deer a season here. No one counts so if you want to kill it, clean it and eat it, you are welcome. We also have those nasty wild hogs. See the hellpig hunt.

I'm gonna step out of smartass mode for a minute here. Everyone with a heartfelt reply is a father, right? Maybe those of us without wives/kids can't do a thread like this. I know that I couldn't come up with much, I mean, Christ, I'm no LloydSev.

nola, please don't misunderstand me. I didn't mean that one could use his wife/kids as an easy answer. Not at all. I was going more towards the premise that having children changes the way you think. The way I see it, once you have children, you are not the most important person in your own life. And that's a wonderful thing that I hope to someday realize. I think that this is quite a stretch for the "single" guy, that's all.

But you'll have an answer from me eventually...
