Well actually…. they were fact-checking the claims made by non-fictional people about a fictional movie, as they accept the movie’s premise that its events are set in 2012. I assume they did this because there are so many stupid people believing stupid things in real 2021.

2) It's not just that the movie didn't play out that way.

3) It's not just that it's fictional

4) It's that #2 & #3 don't really undercut the attraction and power of the meme.

Let me get this straight. If I'm vaccinated for polio, and contract polio, does that mean I catch a mild cold?
