"Hind sight is 20-20".
To a point those governing can only react to what is known. If you start with "knowing" little you may assume the worse. When lives are assumed to be at stake what do you do? You're cautious. Good governance would adjust as facts are gained. In theory that is. In the real world what happens? A mix of good and bad judgement. If you are responsible for the lives of 12 million people what would you do?

I sure as shit wouldn’t take the Goebbels approach that Dewine and Acton did. If that article is right, in full or in part, Dewine pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes. And if that’s true, how many others did the same?

You can stop being an apologist for them at any point.

Sources are cited.
It’s cited about as well as a HS term paper... The well-known facts and sites are linked, But none of the actual claims he’s making.

Oh no, Dewine has lost 16 games by 30 Points in 10 weeks! :panic: I can’t tell if this amateur journalist is more of a Brett McMurphy or Jeff Snook for the Ohio coronavirus story.

Can hydroxychloroquine melt steel beams??

It’s a spottily sourced, poorly written opinion piece disguised as news so full of holes it reminds me of a DickRod DL. But...that said...DeWine admitted himself he’d rather do too much than not enough, so it’s fair to evaluate that extent. But the accusatory tone of the article is over the top.

The truth is usually somewhere in the middle...but we don’t get the truth anymore, if we ever did.

Aside from the obvious reasons for looking forward to this being over and done with, finding out the truth and untruths behind what we’ve been told — by both sides — is of high interest. I suspect that a lot will be buried in the euphoria and 24-hour news cycles. I can still hope though.

There will be a lot of “we were right and you were wrong” on cable news, doubtlessly backed up by an endless line of “experts” to reiterate the predetermined position. Conspiracy theories will also abound. It would take a “30 for 30” type of format to really get to the bottom of some things, but I don’t think anyone will be able to get the real people in the know to comment publicly...which means we’ll have a lot more “anonymous source” exposes and a lot of holes that never get filled.

I personally love the “data data data!” article that then turns around and takes one single persons claims about HCQ and treats them as gospel.

Yeah, the HCQ section IMHO has so much of a political tinge to it that it takes away credibility from the rest of the words. I’ve said this from the beginning, and it stands today, the credibility of those who are providing information is a great source of frustration. I don’t know who I believe... but I’m pretty sure I know when I’m being lied to or manipulated. Again, it applies to both sides of the argument. I’m quite certain that there’s good information to be had, but finding it without a political (primary) motivation is pretty difficult.

That said, when this is over, I hope that those who were using this for political gain (again, in either direction) get exposed, tarred, feathered, drawn and quartered. I suspect that there will be a few; and I suspect they will fall on the ‘I was just reporting the best information I had at the time.’ Much like Bert McDildo, the media taking the easy road and wrapping themselves in the flag of generating clicks as opposed to doing their job to provide unbiased and accurate accounting has done nothing more than drop the entire ‘journalism’ industry a few more pegs in my book.

For anyone looking for a mask solution in hot weather (I stand outside for 11-14 hours a day, when our events resume soon):
https://www.costco.com/arctic-cool-cooling-face-gaiter-2-pack.product.100662156.html

From a quick review of other comments, they sound like they work like the cooling towels, which are incredible in warm weather (even with tepid water to wet them).

Obviously these aren't going to protect you very well (nor are most masks), but masks aren't about you anyway. The only ones that protect you are rather hard to find and really oppressive to wear.

Excellent post. I would just like to add "and/or financial" between "political" and "gain".

Wow. The more and more information that comes to light, it appears the knee-jerk draconian reaction was more harmful than this flu ever posed to anyone under the age of 75 and healthy.

There are about 38 million Americans who are over 75.

About 86 million Americans have hypertension. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that ALL of the over 75 folks have hypertension, that still means that about 48 million Americans under 75 are "unhealthy".

It may be that the harm from government action plus individual choice to voluntarily take precautions outweighs the harm that the virus would have caused without those policies and choices, but your reasoning for that being the case makes no sense.

Amen. Frankly I have been too busy with work (and to be real, LOTS of golf and hikes) to really follow all the reports and data. But the limited amount of research and reading I have done just doesn't feel reliable whatsoever. I feel like it will be awhile before I make any real conclusions, but agree those using this for political/financial gain better get absolutely destroyed for this. One thing I know for sure, those people are absolutely out there.
