It's apparently going to take a few weeks or months for it to become tangible, but we're shutting down life for awhile guys.
Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but even slight drop-offs in tourism causes significant hits in the economy state-wide. Additionally, night life here is as important to local folks as it is to tourists. Several well-known established businesses on Oahu have already tanked due to the virus scare, and now many more businesses will go under and those that don't will have to fire/layoff employees in droves, all to try and prevent/mitigate something that may happen and to what degree it may happen no one has a fucking clue.

Damn, what exactly do you have against Jack Dawson?
I will never forgive Rose for her board hoarding.

I'm not being sarcastic. It's almost all going to stop.

My business is almost completely shut down by the group restriction (let alone the more extreme other ones), which means no hours for my staff, until this is done. And that's only a maybe with how bad this could get economically. The only thing we do now is fulfill the random orders from years past.

that's happening already here commercially. There's no may happen regarding the virus. It's happening, and not just to the olds.

The only guess is how catastrophic it will be, how quickly, and whether the terrible suppression option is mildly less bad than the others.

But at what cost to society? I'm not talking about economics, although that will become a factor at some point.

Can enough money be thrown around to keep people fed and with a roof over their heads? The paycheck to paycheck crowd - aka about 75% of the work force - are going to need supported sooner rather than later. Otherwise, brace yourself for civil unrest and crime as desperate people take desperate measures.

100% accurate. You can only order home confinement for so long.
