For sure.....but that bit at the end about being a big strong man and fighting the virus without medication is peak misinformation nonsense.

Letting your body fight something vs take meds for it is a personal decision based on risk/reward.

I don't get flu shots because, odds are, flu isn't going to kill me if I get it. The OG version of COVID was unknown enough that I decided to get the vaccination.

When the decision was first put in front of people, I could understand a younger person with no comorbidities not wanting to put some new, unknown chemical in their body just because the government says "trust us".

It's an individual thing.

I'll take antibiotics for infections but as far as viruses go it's up to your body's immune system to fight it off. Yes, the vaccines help immensely which is why I got vaccinated but as far as medicines that calm the symptoms but don't actually do anything to fight the virus, big thumbs down. If I'm every put in a situation where I have cancer, liver fail, diabetes I'll weigh the benefits. It's a hill I'm willing to die on, I'd rather live a shorter life than be strung out and dependent on medicines that will keep me alive but lower my quality of life. I'd like to think that I'll bow out gracefully if ever faced with a terminal illness.

Hold on...so when you go a MinuteClinic with the sniffles and they recommend three prescribed meds and five OTC meds you don't take them all?

Yes, I'm a very bad patient. The last time I was in a hospital was when I suddenly had a pulse of like 230bpm. The paramedics came and took me to the ER, turns out I was merely dehydrated but they still tried to send me to the cardiologist.

What? the minute clinic doesn't give me shit. I went in there with and ear infection (swimmer's ear) and she's like, "well what do you think this is?"

"Swimmer's ear"

"Well, you'd have to have gone swimming 3 or 4 times a week to get that"

"Yeah, I swim a mile 4-5 times a week in the summer, I can show you my garmin app" (or I did that summer anyway, now its more like 2-3)

"Oh"

"Well, I can't give you anything for the pain"

"I don't want anything for the pain, I want some antibiotics, not oxy"

"Well, I can give you some drops*, but I don't think you need any oral antibiotics, if you need that you can go see your Doctor"

"Thanks, I guess?"

*the prescription drops were, You guessed it, 3 OTC medications mixed together.

The last time I went to a minute clinic was for a rash that I had on my back and arms. Some doctor who barely spoke English started asking me about my discharges and sexual activities. I got up and walked out. Went to a real doctor and within two seconds he had me diagnosed and gave me a prescription that cleared it up. That was about 20 years ago.

It was before but he was full of cancer anyway. I think the reason people danced on his grave is because he said some nonsense about God protecting him form the virus which to be fair is peak cringe.

As someone who has been fully vaccinated and boosted, that Hermain Cain incident served as a catalyst for disturbing behavior of people who celebrate anytime someone unvaccinated dies, catches covid, or has some sort of misfortunate occur to them related to their vaccination status.

Some of them have built websites like this:

Tell that to @GeorgeWashington

I want market driven healthcare..I’ll pay for mine. If I want to eat meat and be a tad overweight I’ll pay for it. If you want to not vaccinate, smoke drink have unprotected sex go ahead. Don’t ask me to pay for your health care.
Down in Colombia it's like 5 grand for major back surgery. Granted most people down there don't have that kind of money but one of the reasons it's so cheap is because it's not subsidized by the gubermint and you have to pay up front. Not a bad system if you ask me.
