Coronavirus (COVID-19) is too exciting for adults to discuss (CLOSED)

It probably has to do with cold storage capability. A research hospital is going to have that. A children's hospital probably not. It doesn't mean that the Children's staff can't get vaccinated at UC. As for the actual children in the hospital, the vaccine isn't approved for anyone under 16. When the Moderna vaccine hits, I think you'll see a broader range of hospitals and facilities getting it.

To quote Churchill: "This is not the end or even the beginning of the end, but it just may be the end of the beginning."

The news is reporting it as 975 doses that were distributed to UC Hospital, and that OSU Wexner Medical Center received the same yesterday. And 8 more hospitals in Ohio will receive their 975 dose allotments today.

So, in the 100,000 Pfizer vaccines that Ohio is set to receive by the end of the year (Toas's link a few posts above), a little less than 10% of that will have been distributed by today.

That is mostly correct (Children's staff won't get these doses) - I just wanted to provide data points. UC also trialed the Pfizer vaccine and Children's the Moderna, and the UC staff is at a heightened risk compared to Children's, so this all makes sense.

Yeah, this is just the end of the beginning.

The main event just started. The fatalities will be lower because we are smarter but the R0 and vaccine will probably intersect now in april or may.

I will now erroneously attribute the invention of the Manhattan to my mother.

I am beyond Covid-fatigue at this point. Still taking precautions, still dealing with it at work, but done talking much about it. Sick of empty arenas, and no reason to travel because there isn't anything to do when you get there.

For the "until there's a vaccine" crowd: now there is one and I hope it works. But what happens if a Covid-21 hits next fall? Are we going to do this shit all over again?
There has to be another strategy.

This is a simple request for the news networks. As opposed to a death ticker on the side of all broadcasts, maybe we can start having a ticker showing the number of people vaccinated? Give us a reason to be hopeful for goodness sake.
