Pfizer Vaccine 90% Effective(2 shots)

Pfizer Chairman and CEO Dr. Albert Bourla told CNBC on Monday he believes the world “can see light at the end of the tunnel,” after the U.S. pharmaceutical giant announced its coronavirus vaccine was more than 90% effective in preventing Covid-19 for those who had no evidence of previously being infected.

aren't there 300 some odd million Americans?

Yeah, but remember how many vaccines are in trial, and at least one other is at a similar stage as the Pfizer vaccine IIRC. This was always intended to be a (best case) multi-company solution, because scaling production to that level would likely take to the end of 2021 with just one company providing the vaccine.

Not everyone wants to take it (which sucks), but for those who do or are forced to, it will likely require administration several times a year since the antibodies have been shown not to last very long. It will be interesting to see how this plays out to say the least.

If most of the population is vaccinated, the virus will then be infecting at a rate below the extinction level. And that's where we need to get.

So maybe not more than one vaccination. But could be. There's so many factors to think about - we're really, ultimately talking about the world population, not just the U.S.

Yes, it will be interesting.

How long will a vaccine be effective, even Pfizer doesn't know right now. But people are desperate to get their "freedom" back and should a vaccine prove long term effective many will want it.
