I know it's fun to piss on the IRS, and they definitely are NOT an efficient machine, but they almost always get things right. People only hear the horror stories when something gets fucked up, but the folks that work there are generally good people that are doing the best that can working a job that has a tremendous number of rules and regulations to know, understand, and follow.
