Contest XVI - Where Am I?

Greenies to the first person that can correctly answer this question:

During the first week in Morocco what was the most frequently asked question by most the residents?

a. Do you think it will ever rain again?

b. When do you think it will stop raining?

c. Who are you voting for in the parliment election (the King is the supreme ruler, but there is an elected parliment)?

e. Why are gas prices so high?

f. Who/what is responsible for the high inflation/costs?

h. Can I see your marriage contract?

or

j. How much did you pay for your sheep?

Any more guesses. All of the above are left.

Considering the fact that it hasn't rained there in months, I'm gonna go with:

a. Do you think it will ever rain again?

The country goes "sheep crazy" for EID-UL-ADHA : THE FESTIVAL OF SACRIFICE, which was celebrated on Tuesday, 9 Dec 08 in Morocco; see links below.

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice in Islam

Eid-ul-Adha: The Festival of Sacrifice

Ciao Gorgeous ! You're So Sweet :): Eid Adha Mubarak Saeed.. :)

This is one of the biggest Muslim holidays of the year. I'd compare it to our Thanksgiving. Everyone in Morocco wants a sheep to scarifice. There were sheep everywhere. The sold them out of trucks, on street corners, and in tents in parking lots, etc. People transported them in their car/van/truck, on motorcycles, on bikes, tied to donkeys/camels, on their shoulder, and even on public busses. They were pulling them around on a rope (that was tied to the ram's horns). By far most of the sacrificed sheep were males. The King kicks of the celebration by sacficing his sheep and everyone in Morocco "follows suit". Basically they slaughter the sheep, eat 2/3 of it and give 1/3 to poor people who can't afford a sheep. I was told a sheep costs between $200 and $400 depending on the size of the sheep, which is pretty high for most of the people in Morocco. Everyone is looking for a good deal and asking anyone else with a sheep what they paid for their sheep.
