Contest XVI - Where Am I?

ScriptOhio

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
You probably won't see any posts from me the next couple of weeks. ....Wait for cheering to subside.... I'll be on a vacation. Since a lot of you like trivia, contests, and/or guessing games; I am having another contest to guess where I am going. The first person to guess the correct place (city & country) that I will be at on 13-16 December 2008 wins greenies, 25,000 vDollars, a gift, and possibly a CATS*.

Note: The vDollars and gift are due to the generous support of Deety (again) who is willing to help on awarding the vDollars and buying the gift. The gift is contingent on still being available via BP's software.

* A "Cheap And Tasteless Souvenir" (CATS) from the destination which I will give the to winner. To get the prize the winner has to PM me with an address to send it to. The address can be a home address, work address, or just a PO box, etc. I will send it cheapest possible means (last class USPS). I'm not responsible for the CATS being lost or damaged during shipment. The winner will have 4 days after I PM him/her for an address to supply it. If for any reason the winner doesn't want the CATS, doesn't feel comfortable in sending me an address, or I just don't receive an address from the winner in the specified time period (4 days); I'll go to an alternate "plan B" to give out the CATS.

Thank you Deety,
woman.gif
for the larger (25,000 vDollars prize).

Here are the clues, I haver tried to make the clues a little harder this time.

1. Looking at the world.

2. All aboard that

3.

This contest is actually a "Where will I be?". I may have some internet access so there is a possibility of some additional posts (declare winner, another hint, etc.) from me. The first person to guess the correct place wins. The prizes will be awarded after after I get back: Tuesday, 16 December 2008. If nobody guesses correctly, then (upon my return) additional clues will be given until there is a winner. Other unique, novel, funny, and/or close guesses may also get greenies. As before, whoever can ID the two pictures (above) and explain how they are a clue will get additional greenies.

The usual rule still applies. You can guess as often as you like; however, one guess per post. Without this rule I'm sure someone would get the idea to cut and paste an entire atlas listing every city/state/country known to man and say one of these places.

Previous winner's list:

2 - The Marrakesh Railway

1 - Looking at the World is a Lyric from "The Marrakesh Express"

You're going to Morocco - presumably Marrakesh - you should take a ride to Casablanca too.

:p

We hava a winner. Apparently it was not as difficult as I had hoped. I even had a couple more clues lined up (see below).

I have to give it to Sandgk. He did have MarraKesh and Morocco.

wall to wall.

in the square.

Crosby Stills Nash - Marrakesh Express Lyrics

Graham Nash actually wrote the song.

Looking at the world
Through the sunset in your eyes
Trying to make the train
Through clear Moroccan skies
Ducks and pigs and chickens call
Animal carpet wall to wall
American ladies five foot tall in blue.

Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind
Had to get away to see what we could find
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led
Listen not to what's been said to you

Would you know we're riding
on the Marrakesh Express
Would you know we're riding
on the Marrakesh Express
All on board that train

I've been saving all my money just to take you there
I smell the garden in your hair

Take the train from Casablanca going south
Blowing smoke rings from the corners of my my,my,my,my mouth
Colored cottons hang in the air
Charming cobras in the square
Striped Djellebas we can wear at home
Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh Express
Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express
They're taking me to Marrakesh
All on board that train

Prizes to be awarded when I get home.

Not a bad guess. You were the first to identify Graham Nash. That alone is worth some greenies.

Last train to clarksville

I have no [censored]ing clue what I'm talking about.

It could have been the last train to Clarksville. I like the Monkees too. Greenies are being sent.

Trying to seal the conrest on a technicality. I like your "style". That deserves some greenies. Actually if sandgk had said something like "you could also be in Casablanca" in lieu of "you should take a ride to Casablanca too"; his post would have been disqualified due to more than one guess per post and you would have won.

I never saw this until now, but I like the more difficult clues.

I have been trying to make it harder; but apparently will little sucess until this one. I think the key to this one was identifying the photo of Graham Nash which could lead you to the song. I doubt that I could have identified him from the picture and I'm in his age group. I may have guessed Istanbol or Paris thinking the train might be the Orient Express. Anyway greenies are being sent.

Good job on this one. sandgk wins and gets all the "goodies". Greenies, the CATS*, 25,000 vDollars and a medal (the last two are subject to Deety still being able to effect the action).

A "Cheap And Tasteless Souvenir" (CATS) from the destination which I will give the to winner.

I was in Casabalanca; as well as Rabat, Fez, Efourd, Quarzazte, the Sahara desert (slept in a tent with no electric power/running water), the Atlas Mountains, etc. I didn't ride the Marrakesh Express. :( I took Royal Air Maroc "boeing express" from Marrakesh back to Casablanca.

I didn't see any cold hanging coffins. I have seen several versions of the lyrics and I think it might be "colored cottons hang in the air". However, there were snake charmers in the square (with live cobras and other vipers).

It is a nice song, in case you haven't heard it:

Thanks to everyone for playing, even if you didn't venture a guess.
