Whichever way Davis goes we will be OK. I remember how hard Earl Bruce went after Gandolfini before Rutgers nabbed him. The program survived.

Although there were threats.

Dear Anthony Davis:

Please come to Ohio State. You will love it. I am going to be a Buckeye someday, and I think you should be too. It's a great school and Jim Tressel is a great coach. Alex Boone is a great player and you could play next to him.

Maybe you could call me and we could talk about why you should go to Ohio State. Or we could grab a bite to eat and a movie.

So, will you go to Ohio State? Mark Yes or No .... or Maybe.

Yours truly,

Alex Boone fan

This could be the letter.... and it wouldn't be creepy at all. :shake:

recieve hundreds of emails from fans begging them to come to their school. The NCAA typically turns a blind eye to that type of contact.
How about we not stoop to that level. Seriously, how creeped out would you be if some random person just emailed you and told you they think you're great and should go to X school?

Yes, but that doesn't make it right.

...nor do I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that the level of histrionics/hyperbole typical in the writing of many fans is likely to be a positive factor in the decision to select a school.

Who's really more pathetic, someone who wants to write a letter to a football player they admire, or someone who comes on an internet forum and calls the first person pathetic and tells them they need to seek counseling...I'm really not sure anyone here has the moral authority to take the "I'm not overly involved in a college football team, but you are" road. It's a recruiting violation, let's leave it at that.

However, Don't forget that I was right about my knowledge of Alex Boone as posted much earlier before his greatness was well known.

I remember a lot of people saying Ted Ginn was going to be great too. It's really not that hard to point at a 5 star recruit and say, "Gee, I think one day he'll be great." So on that account, I believe one day Ben Martin will be a great player. Does this really make me more knowledgable than anyone else?

Didn't say it was right or wrong, I just said that it makes no difference if people contact these recruits in some way. If Alex Boone Fan thinks he can recruit these kids better than the coaches than shoot......
