Contacting Recruits (Split from Anthony Davis Thread)

Alex Boone fan

I was worried he would be influenced by the excitement of last nights Rutgers win. I just hope he really weights everything and as exciting as last night is its no comparison to a big program like Ohio State.

Think of me as crazy, maybe this is but I was thinking of writing Anthony Davis and appealing to him to come to Ohio State providing him with solid reasons why Ohio State would be the right choice. Who knows it might just make a difference

Then again, it probably won't make a difference for this recruit to receive a letter from you extolling the virtues of OSU. Don't do it!

Please let JT and his staff handle the recruiting duties for OSU. If they need your help, I'm sure they would give you a call.

I think Anthony could tell you more about what the Ohio State football program has to offer than you could tell him. He'll make his choice, and life will go on. Recruiting is about enjoying the ride and celebrating the victories. It is not about going psycho.

That is an NCAA violation...

...not to mention, just a little bit ...in my humble opinion.

Seriously though, as a supporter of Ohio State athletics, you are considered a Booster. And writting any recruit that you have no previous relationship with (especially to attempt to participate in the recruitment of) is "illegal" contact according to NCAA rules.

You wouldn't want to do that I'm sure.

:shake:

Just a little friendly FYI. :wink2: :osu:

I seriously doubt a New Jersey boy could know half of what I know about the Ohio State football program. Please, don't insult my intelligence. I said I am considering writing him. I haven't made my decision and its not something that is crazy. I would classify it as a Buckeye fan who see's a very talented player that knows he might be very dominant on the line and who could help.

Furthermore, everyone and I am not judging just curious why you think its so wrong to write him? Give me you're viewpoints.

1. As stated previously it is a potential NCAA violation.

2. Most of us would consider getting a letter from some random internet nutbag telling us why we should go to his favorite school to be creepy...at best.

3. The Ohio State University football coaches recruiting Mr. Davis are likely to do a bit more knoweledgeable about The Ohio State University football program than said random creepy internet nutbag.

4. Anthony Davis likely does not want to have his intelligence insulted by random creepy internet nutbag by having said individual explain that as a New Jersey boy Davis needs to have the benefits of an education at The Ohio State University explained to him.

5. It is a potential NCAA violation!

Before you posted this, someone had replied that you shouldn't write him because it is a potential NCAA violation. How can that not be reason enough?

If you are a true fan of OSU, you would not entertain any ideas that may lead to punishment and bad publicity for the program.

It is understandable that you would take offense to the personal attacks and name calling. You have always been a positive board member on this site. I think that you just didn't understand the potential rules violations involved and just needed that to be clarified to you.

DO NOT WRITE HIM. Please tell me you are 12 years old. Writing a recruit (beside being against the rules) is pathetic.

Guys seriously... don't be so hard on Boone. It's like dealing with girls AB, there's a right time and a right thing to say to them... and sometimes nothing. JT know's what he's doing and he's proven it. Boone don't worry, you're a good fan that wants to do their part.... but it's not our part as fans to contact recruits. If you sent a letter to Malcom Jenkins telling him you're a fan and think his old teamate should join him.... that would be better. Keep cheering.
