Computer Freezing Question

DaytonBuck

I've always liked them
I got an internal wireless card installed in my computer over the weekend. Now everytime I let my computer go to sleep, I can get back to windows but the mouse and everything is frozen on the screen. Is this an issue with the wireless card or something else going on in the computer?

It could just be a coincidence, but I kinda doubt it. Most likely you need to go to the manufacturer's website and see if there is a newer driver for the wireless card. One of us can probably assist if you need, just tell us what make and model the card is.

I'll have to dig that info when I get home from work. One of the IT guys here suggested that since I was using the software that came with the card ZyXel something or other instead of just using windows XP built connect to wireless capability that could be issue.

Yeah I would agree there. You need to install the drivers for the card, but you definitely wanna use the built in XP wireless stuff. Still kinda doubt that would cause your problem, but anything is possible.

Usually when I install the wireless card, I'll check the CD and see where the drivers are located. I'll then just use the Add New Hardware wizard, point to the drivers on the CD, and it'll install just fine.

XP handles wireless devices just fine, I never really saw a need to use anybody else's software.

You may want to uninstall the card and associated software, then reinstall the way I described.

I have Zyxel G-302v2 802.11 b/g wireless PCI adapter according to my device manager. I managed to solve the freezing problem by switching to XP's wireless manager and disabling the Zyxel software. Is there any way I can update the drivers for this? The disk it came with is a couple years old.
