"Community" / Parks & Recreation

Love this show, easily took over Parks and Rec as my favorite after a couple episodes. I wenton a hiatus of my own but I am incredibly bummed about the break. I would pay out of pocket to keep it going. Ps if I could ever marry a celebrity, I would pick Alison Brie without thinking.

Favorite character may be Leonard "Where are all the white women at?"

Has anyone watched the two new episodes? Not sure what has happened, but they were awful. A lack of viewership apparently means the writers are going to throw a hail mary. Show just got flat out weird and every episode has to have some theme now.

They have usually had themes but I agree they were weak. Troy and Abed being normal was pretty enjoyable though.

Perhaps they lost some writers, perhaps they are going down with the ship. Either way this is the opposite approach they need to rescue their chances of another season.

Tory/Abed being normal was good. But I feel the show got too insistent on creating some cohesive theme every episode rather than having clever dialogue. The old shows had themes but they were more than willing to break from the theme for the humor. Now it is just weird, awkward scenes that make sense. I hate it. Hopefully these two episodes were anomalies.

Chevy Chase In Feud With ‘Community’ Creator Dan Harmon

UPDATE SUNDAY: Since I posted the story yesterday, several people working on the show have come forward to confirm Chase’s version of the events. One noted that the show indeed was “suffering through a ‘non-script day’” when Chase walked off. Another claimed that most of the cast and crew members who attended the wrap party disapproved of Harmon’s behavior at the bash.
PREVIOUS: Things are looking up for NBC’s perennial bubble series Community, which has been solid since returning from a long hiatus earlier this month, establishing itself as NBC’s second highest-rated comedy behind The Office. But behind the scenes, a rift between co-star Chevy Chase and creator/executive producer/showrunner Dan Harmon has escalated into an ugly war of words.
Accounts of the feud have leaked online, including on social news website Reddit. The chronology of the events, corroborated to me by multiple sources, involves Chase walking off the set of the show on the last day of shooting last month without filming one of his scenes, which reportedly was to close out the season finale. Then at the wrap party, Harmon got up and gave a “Fuck you, Chevy” speech in front of Chase and his wife and daughter, and encouraged the crew to join him in saying “fuck you” to the actor. Chase left immediately and later left Harmon a profane-laden voice message, a portion of which found its way to the Web after Harmon played it in front of other people. Click here for audio. (Warning: foul language!) In the voice message, Chase addresses both his storming off the set, which he attributes to not getting the script beforehand, (some say it’s because he didn’t find the scene funny) and the wrap party incident.
People close to the matter told me they weren’t surprised by the feud, noting that Chase already had a reputation of being difficult before signing on for Community. (I hear it was NBC’s former boss Ben Silverman who championed Chase for the project and was instrumental in bringing him on board.) Word is Chase has stormed off the set of the NBC show in the middle of a scene a number of times and has also gotten into arguments with Community executive producers-directors Anthony and Joe Russo. There had been tension between Chase and Harmon, and with both of them described as “passionate” or “volatile,” depending who you talk to, a blowup was “inevitable,” one person said. Ironically, a recorded Chevy Chase phone call played a major role in another feud involving the Saturday Night Live alum, that with shock jock Howard Stern.
It is unclear at the moment what impact the falling-out between Harmon and Chase would have on Community and whether Chase would continue on the show. The producers’ attention right now is focused on securing a fourth-season renewal for the offbeat comedy, which appears more and more likely.
:banger:

Transcript of Chevy Chase voicemail said:
“I hope you’re ready to take your medicine, you fat fuck. You didn’t give us a script to begin with, so nobody knew what the fuck was going on during the week. Second of all, your goddamn bad writing, shit stinko fuck, was an abomination; and your writing is getting worse, so suck my cock. I don’t get talked to like that by anybody, certainly not in front of my wife and daughter, you goddamn asshole; alcoholic, fat shit.
You’re gonna live to be about 57, if you’re lucky, the way you eat. I have nothing to say to you except you can suck my cock. Is that clear?
And I hope you can play that for everybody around you who agrees with you that you should say “fuck you” in front of all of those people, to me and my family. You think that’s the right way to behave?
If you were here right now I’d fucking kick you’re fucking teeth out. You’re nothing to me. You’re (unintelligible) with what I’ve worked with before. You’re not funny. You’re OK.”

Chase is an egocentric ass. Always has been. Let him go! It's still a fun show.

So.
Alison (cheesy)Brie
or
Gillian (Unfiltered Brita) Jacobs
Who is hotter?

Unapologetic cheesecake.

Are sitcoms just a "guy thing"? Wifey doesn't "get" Community humor.
But she was never a big sitcom fan even for "Friends". Or even Seinfield, which was the greatest sitcom ever!
Do women "get" sitcoms?

Friends is definitely a girls sitcom first with plenty of crossover appeal.

My better half can't stand Seinfeld but loves the NBC lineup. Community is a pretty odd show, so I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from that.

The show seems to have some limitless possibilities since all they do is spoof pop culture and society. I absolutely love the show and hope that they can get the whole Chase thing worked out but that doesn't seem very likely. The funny things is that when the show came out I had just started back to a branch campus at UC and everyday saw a character that was either in the show or would fit in seemlessly.
