My first reaction was a mother consoling her daughter after the daughters first jizz load in the eye.

Maybe I'm not their target audience though.

I think you hit the nail on the head. This is an attempt by Facebook to (a) bury all of the bad press about privacy issues and unethical behavior this year and (b) to get back in front of the younger market, which has moved from Facebook to their Instagram platform but now appears to be leaving it. They are trying to position themselves as no longer a photo-sharing app and making other changes. We could be watching a case study in destroying customer equity that will be taught in business schools for decades to come...or they may just know something we don't. It is going to be interesting to watch.
