Tens of thousands of people head to Columbus every fall during Ohio State's football season. I'm as much a road-trip loving football fan as the next guy, but I actually never thought the Ohio capital was as charming as say Madison, Wisconsin, or Ann Arbor, Michigan. I obviously wasn't looking very hard. With a revamped downtown and a booming population (it surpassed Cleveland in size in the 1980s), the city has restyled itself from a college town into a fairly happening urban center.

Instead of the Mayors train, they should buy 200 Ferraris and give everyone free Ferrari rides downtown on that same route.

Jeni's alone is worth the trip to Columbus! Best ice cream ever!

They had a chocolate/cinnamon/cayenne pepper flavored ice cream one time that was really good (surprisingly). The North Market in general is solid.

Really good stuff. Started small is growing slowly. Although she is starting to put too much into a flavor. That is simple flavors = good, complex can be good, but don't get rid of the simple.

IMO, her Makers Mark Butter Pecan is worth the trip from Dayton.

I brought the NMR up for the Illinois game a couple of years ago (her first trip to Cbus). Ohio Stadium and pre-game festivities (thanks again, Scooter), the Midwest rugby championship (yes, a niche market activity, I know), a hockey game at the Schott (with a discount for showing your football tickets), and a gallery hop in the Short North. One hell of a day in Columbus. If only we had made it to German Village for dinner.
