I’m not annoyed by the name change and using the Crew as a nickname separately. I’m more annoyed by the garbage “crest” that looks like it was thrown together is MS Paint in 6 seconds. It seriously looks awful. Not to mention how tone deaf it is to kill all of this momentum they’ve built over the last 2 years under new ownership, and the impending unveil of the new downtown stadium.

If the Haslem’s and Dr Pete know what’s good for the team, they’ll walk some of these changes back a bit.

The Columbus Crew SC logo that was done under Precourt was surprisingly good, and one of the few good things he was able to accomplish as the owner. It put me in the mind of Bayern Munich’s crest, and had a lot of meaning. This new, corporate “logo” is just hollow and dull. It looks somewhat like an arena football league logo, but even that would be a slap in the face to some really solid logos in the AFL. I just hope they realize they’ve turned themselves into a meme, not in a good way, and realize the mistake they’ve made.
