Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

the goal of this team is simple and defined at this point...

We're basically working for next season, the last 20 games it's important for us to find the core chemistry of our team. This organization wants to make the playoffs. -Fedorov after last nights game.

make the playoffs the next two seasons, and put a contender on the ice by the end of the decade. this team was built with young guys and draft picks. hiccups will ensue. although its the biggest gamble, its the biggest reward.

Ahhha! I am finally seeing through your riddle. The Jackets are going to trade Richardson and Hrdina for a DeLorean and a flux capacitor.

I agree with the approach of GMDM. However, the end of the decade is right around the corner and the CBJ still have a long ways to go to become contenders. It's time to start making moves that will pay dividends in the next year or two and not several more years down the road.

this is not what im discussing. i havent heard his name in this deal...

IMHO (outside of any outside knowledge) i dont think the deal is a good one for the jackets. look at what we will add next year just from our system. for sure we should add brule, pic, svitov possbily ok t and hartigan? as possible forwards. i would rather see a salary dumb (again the hulse deal was basically a salary dump deal) and go after 1 big name or two 1b names this summer...

right now a few things are in demand.
goalies-as always
puck moving dmen who can join the rush and anchor the pp
stay at home defensemen who can come in and anchor the third pairing, emphasis on veterans who have been "there"
a center who win big draws and are decent two way players.

when i look at this we seem to have all of these things. now salary, age, where they can/will be sent, long term roles and ability to help the club in meet the goal of playing into may next year will dictate who is moved.

these things are fluid like any sport. this deal could break down from either side until the ink is dry. honestly i wouldnt be suprised if two moves are made...

they key to the approaches to me right now is they have to be right for both scenarios 1-2 years and 3-5 years. say what you want about him, but things are right for the b-jax as the candians call them

apparently salary wise. with a few strokes of a pen, foote went from supposedly mildly overpaid to significantly underpaid

The Los Angeles Kings have locked up a key member of their team.
The Kings signed defenceman Mattias Norstrom to a two-year deal worth $4.25 million per season. Norstrom was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
''We're happy to have Matty continue his career with the Kings,'' said Kings GM and president of hockey operations Dave Taylor. ''We appreciate his leadership, dedication and commitment to our organization.''
The stay-at-home defenceman has three goals and 19 assists in 58 games with the Kings this season - his tenth with the franchise.
In 742 career games Norstrom has 13 goals and 123 assists and a +30 rating.
