Why is it that only old men (Griese and Holtz) who lack any logic to support their positions are picking Oregon to go to the Fiesta Bowl over us. I'm still trying to figure out what a "wild card" team is--I've never in my life heard that phrase used in connection with college football.

For the BCS bowls, (I think this is how it works), the top 4 are guaranteed a spot, and the conference champs, which usually leaves 2 'wild cards' for teams. I think, what the moron meant to say was the tOSU, Oregon, and ND were the three wild cards for two spots, but he switched PSU and OSU. He is a moron, plain and simple...

(I have probably simplified the BCS rules a bit, but it is directionally correct)

edit from BB73 - this is not accurate

I realize that CU is nowhere near the same caliber team as USC, but good god, if I were Pete Carrol I'd be terrified right now. Ladies and gentlemen, dare I say that we are most likely looking at the national championship team.
If Gary Barnett weren't such a a$$wipe, I'd probably feel sorry for him. I actually do feel sorry for the kids who have to take this kind of A$$ beating in a, ahem, "Championship Game" though.

DAMMIT!! Almost burned my hotwings. Going back to the game...

Incidentally, my wife wore scarlet and grey today, even though OSU isn't playing and then before she left for work made the statement, " I cant wait to get home so I can eat hotwings, drink beer, and watch football." Did I marry the perfect woman or what?

This is over-simplified and not true. We have a BCS thread that explains the rules.

Bob Griese speaks off the cuff, he doesn't do any research to find the facts. Unlike our own BB73, his points are right on the money!

The proper term is "at-large." Never, and I mean NEVER, have I heard anyone refer to a team in connection with the BCS as a "wild card." Griese's calling the game and he should know that. To use such a phrase shows that he's absolutely clueless.
