idk pretty sure its not a great move but depends on who they go get i guess. there's the (now obvious) fact that the regents or whoever still (again?) blindly think that colorado is a 10-win program every season. i thought they'd moved on from that after embree and that mac would be here for a while even after his kid is gone to just win 6-7 games/yr and pop off for a 10-spot every now and then with a 4- or 5-win debacle mixed in as well over like 12-15yrs, but colorado isn't really a premier program anymore. and unless they go get a better coach/recruiter than mac that can build out what mac has started then that probably won't change.

idk maybe they think he's reached his coaching ceiling and the only chance they have to really compete & establish some dominance while the pac12 is weak is right now. or he sent nudes to the water girl. who knows.

e: in any case, if they're canning him because he blew a 4-score lead once in the midst of a 5 game losing streak, seems like an overreaction iyam but who the f am i tbh

Colorado football team goes on 100-player hike; ops director ticketed

Colorado director of football operations Bryan McGinnis has been issued a ticket for a 100-player hike on a Colorado mountain trail, Boulder officials told the Boulder Daily Camera on Friday.

McGinnis was ticketed for violating a public health order and failure to obtain a large group permit, which was needed to have more than 24 people to gather.

Park rangers told the newspaper that 108 people were in the Buffaloes group Thursday and that many were not wearing masks or social distancing from others on the trail.

Colorado athletic director Rick George noted in a statement that players involved had tested negative for COVID-19 but also noted the team's error.

"We acknowledge the lapse in judgment and apologize for our football team partaking in a group activity like this on public open space amid the current COVID-19 climate," George said. "We share in the community's concern and anxiety about the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, and we do not tolerate actions that are contrary to public health orders. We will address this with our football program, and continue to educate our coaches, staff and student-athletes about the importance of complying with public health orders, including wearing masks and physical distancing at all times while in public."

In a statement to the Daily Camera, Boulder officials said they would prefer to prioritize education over citations, but "law enforcement officers will issue citations for especially egregious behaviors like what occurred during this recent hike."

Dear Buffs Fans,

This afternoon, I met with Head Football Coach Karl Dorrell and let him know that we were making a change in the leadership of our football program effective immediately. I also informed Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator Chris Wilson that he was being relieved of his duties as well. Mike Sanford will serve as the Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

After a bye week this weekend, we host California on October 15 and I trust that you will once again be at Folsom Field giving us an incredible home field advantage. Thank you for all that you do.

They're a victim of the same circumstances that has sunk Nebraska. They were a powerful program when they could sneak borderline kids and criminals onto their teams back in the 90's. Now? Not so much.

I've always thought they were a bit of a sleeping giant. Beautiful campus in a fantastic location and all. But they're woefully behind in the facilities race and they just don't seem all that interested in going for it.
