Taos, concerning the Big Ten title, I think that you meant to say that this team can still win it, right? Nebraska has looked anything but invincible and Wisky is coming to the Shoe. Everyone is back. It's a tall order, I admit, but it is still a possibility.

It's a tall order, but we don't need to win them all. Beat Wiscy and Illinois.(not that winning both will be easy by any stretch)
That would get us to the BIG Title Game.
From there, anything is possible.

that would be nice. i have some doubts that our linebackers are up to the task, though. wilson, ball, and white are a nightmare for green backers. i don't think we can stop their offense, and our offense needs to develop by leaps and bounds in order to outscore them. if we win, we win by being at least +2 in turnovers.

Yeah, I think our defense has a ton to prove as it hasn't played that well this season. There are definitely holes that were exposed by our three real opponents (Akron is by far the worst team in the country, so I'm not counting that game), and Wisconsin would expose them worse at the present time.

With that said, the Big Ten sucks. We CAN beat every team in the conference, but Wisconsin is the best at the current time. Maybe and hopefully that changes when Posey, Adams, and Boom come back. I think Nebraska is going to get wrecked next Saturday, although it's kind of tough to gage Wiscy when they haven't played anybody with a pulse...

Let's not get too, too excited after beating a bad CU team. Let's get excited after we beat an okay Sparty team, though.

Our D has a lot of talent but they are inconsistent Sweat and Klein especially they make a good play and then the very next play they lose their man or take a wrong angle and give up 3rd and 15. Right now only Simon really brings it every play..if the young guys follow John I think this D will be fine. They should improve as the season goes on and they grow together..

We are used to seeing Rolle, or #33 before him, and many more before him, pick those passes over the middle off, deflect them, or put a hit on the receiver as the ball arrives. Sweat is just not getting his drop right - not deep enough because he's slow reading pass or just a step slow. He'll get there or they might have to move some guys around. The angle thing, like tackling, is something they can get coached up on and corrected pretty easily.

So I assume you think Fickell lacks sportsmanship? After all he "ran up the score" by doing passing plays, etc. during Akron. Doesn't matter if it was 2nd and 3rd stringers, it was still intent on moving the ball to score.

Whining isn't good sportsmanship. And again, I didn't hear anyone complain when Fickell did it. In fact, quite the opposite. People were making fun of Akron's head coach for calling out Fickell for that very thing.

I also assume the same complaints would be raised had Smith scored a TD instead of getting tackled at the one?

Huge difference between giving 2nd and 3rd stringers game experience up to the end of the game, and having the first stringers trying to score with a few seconds left and a big lead. If you're on the goal line with a big lead and can take a knee on a play or two to run out the clock, you do so. If you have the ball on near the 10 yard line with the backups in and you run a simple run between the tackles that happens to score, that's not running it up. So, no, I doubt anyone would've complained if Smith had scored on that play.

I think I read somewhere that Fickell wanted to simplify some things so the young guys could do less thinking and more play making..it could help we aren't short on talent just experience..if everybody just does their assignment we will be fine have trust in your teammates.
