College football bowl projections for 2022 season: Spring practice edition
PEACH BOWL (PLAYOFF SEMIFINAL)
Projected matchup: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Notre Dame
Nick Saban said after his team's second scrimmage on Saturday that this year's team has no "complainers" on the roster. Go ahead and Sharpie the Crimson Tide as a Playoff team with Bryce Young and Will Anderson back. If the Fighting Irish are able to run the table and finish 11-1 following a season-opening loss at Ohio State, it's hard to imagine Notre Dame not getting the committee's fourth-seed vote considering that would mean notable wins over BYU, Clemson and USC. In fact, that late-season matchup with Clemson could determine which of those programs get to the final four since the Tigers are our preseason ACC champion pick.
FIESTA BOWL (PLAYOFF SEMIFINAL)
Projected matchup: No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 3 Ohio State
Unfinished business. That is the popular narrative surrounding the Buckeyes during spring practice and beyond for 2022. After missing out on the Big Ten Championship Game and final four following a rivalry loss to Michigan, the offense's core of Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson and wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba are itching to get back on the field and show the Buckeyes will be one of the nation's flashiest offenses in 2022. The key here, however, is the revamped defense under former Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. If the Buckeyes indeed capture the No. 2 seed next fall, their defense will be back to playing at an elite level. Georgia gets here with one projected loss, and that's to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
CFB PLAYOFF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Projected matchup: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 3 Ohio State
This would be a scintillating matchup for college football fans across the country, who are perhaps growing tired of all-SEC matchups in the postseason. Those barking about the "same old teams," however, will have to sit this one out. Alabama returns the top two players nationally, while the Buckeyes boast a Heisman finalist of their own in Stroud. These two met for a title two years ago, and DeVonta Smith made quick work of Ohio State's since-retooled defense. Alabama will not face an offense as talented as Ohio State's unit during the regular season, and that includes another bout with Georgia in the SEC Championship.

I can't believe that they have ND as a playoff team; however, I do believe that expectations will be sky high for the Buckeyes in 2022/2023.
