Where are the spokesmen for the East-of-the-Rockies-north-of-the-Ohio river schools? Put a game in Chicago and another in Jersey and make the series rotate through those cities too. Not putting a game in OUR region sells OUR teams short.

^^This. Didn't I read that Delaney pretty much rolled over on this? I guess having the Big Least and conf. USA in your corner doesn't do much to bolster your negotiations. Who knew. If the PAC and SEC don't think there is much advantage to having defacto home games for playoffs or championships they should have no problem with moving those games, right? :roll1:

edit; looked back and the discussion on playoff sites I was thinking of started back at post #3116 in this thread: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/college-football/404-college-playoff-104.html#post2155452

I always wondered why this isn't a significant sticking point of any negotiation. I'm assuming Delaney and B1G Presidents simply don't think it's important.

All I read is what a masterful negotiator he is, how he drives a hard bargain and how the expanding footprint of the conference will set the benchmark for all of college sports in the next 20 years.

Well sure he can do all that shit, but he can't ask for a game to be switched to Detroit or Chicago or Indy once every six years? Some negotiator...

My 'regional bias' senses started twitching once I saw that the northenmost playoff bowl location looked like Pasadena. Then I saw that bowl games had to submit bids to host this, and no 'northern' locales did.

So, can't see much room to bitch about it.

If you're the Big 10 commish and you don't have enough clout to pick up the phone and shake up some movers and shakers in Chicago, then I have to wonder how you got be the commish. If you're the AD or the president of any one of the 11 major - make that MAJOR - universities in the nation and you don't stand up for your program and talk to the movers and shakers in your community about equity in this venture, then I have to wonder when your scheduled for a cranial - rectotomy.

This, letting the bowls grab the brass ring and plan around your region, is nothing short of dereliction of duty and a shrugging off of institutional responsibility.

Meh - I blame the following (in no particular order):
Joe Paterno
ESPN (and other pro-SEC media)
The Walt Disney Company
George Lucas
Ned Flanders
That guy who cut me off in traffic that one time
That other guy who cut me off in traffic that other time
The United Nations
We should probably put whoever invented New Coke on this list a couple of times, too.

I imagine a poorly-lit room full of cigar smoke, with 4-6 guys sitting around a table. All but one naturally look grumpy, but they look even grumpier than usual in this case. Most are wearing fedoras, too. Anyway, the other guy - the non-grumpy guy - he's sweating and looking nervous. For some strange reason, he's wearing a placard on his shirt that says "northern venue". He realizes that the only way he's getting out of that room with the shoes he came with (instead of concrete shoes) is if he fails to submit a bit to host a college football playoff game.

I believe it. JoePa ain't dead - he's smoking cigars, wearing a pinstripe suit, and obviously not concealing his Tommy Gun.

The reason we now have the worst of both worlds (bowls and playoffs) is because TPTB in the B1G decided to protect the Rose Bowl over everything else.

I was wondering why logo No. 4 was winning by that much when I looked at the early voting results. Fifty-Thousand votes were added by a hacker.

http://college-football.si.com/2013/04/24/report-college-football-playoff-logo-contest-hacked/

I had no idea there was a poll. Looking at it now, all four of those logos are crap.

Why doesn't Ty Willingham get blamed anymore?

Voting ends Monday, but it looks like No. 2 (The Ball) is going to win the logo contest (barring a huge amount of votes coming in by Monday).

It would be comical if the committee rigged the voting for the logo they wanted (internally) from the start. I wouldn't put that past them.
