This is the thing that drives me nuts about college football.
It is not always about who has the best team, it is about who has the easiest schedule.
I know that it comes down to developing talent, but if you look at recruiting rankings, you will see that the SEC brings in 10x's as much talent as say the big east and a Louisville or WVU.
Teams like LSU, Auburn, Florida are loaded with talent, and if one of them were to go the big east and play WVU schedule we would hear all about how they were going to play in the NC game. But as it is we will see some of the most talented teams in the country with 3 loses while a team that gets to go through the season playing a bunch of non-ranked teams could be playing on Jan. 8th.
Now I know win all your games and take care of that, but the last time a SEC team went undefeated they were left out of the title game, b/c of the couple cake teams they played at the beginning of the season.
I feel the same for teams in the big ten. I think you could take a team like PSU this year, that will probably finish 4th in the big ten put them in the big east with a couple cake walk non-conference games like Temple and Buffalo and they would be playing in the NC game.
It is a freakin' joke and IMO college football either needs to tell these teams that they need to reach out and schedule top teams from the SEC, Big Ten and I am sure teams would love to do that to shut up the hype wagon or else a two loss team say like an Auburn whose loses were to Florida and say GA would be put ahead of them, b/c they have games on their schedule that are not show up and go through the motions.
I still think this is why college football will eventually get a playoff. A couple more years of having 3 or 4 teams deserve in the NC game and I think we will see it happen.
Ok I am off of my soapbox now.
