College Gameday Season Preview

This is the thing that drives me nuts about college football.

It is not always about who has the best team, it is about who has the easiest schedule.

I know that it comes down to developing talent, but if you look at recruiting rankings, you will see that the SEC brings in 10x's as much talent as say the big east and a Louisville or WVU.

Teams like LSU, Auburn, Florida are loaded with talent, and if one of them were to go the big east and play WVU schedule we would hear all about how they were going to play in the NC game. But as it is we will see some of the most talented teams in the country with 3 loses while a team that gets to go through the season playing a bunch of non-ranked teams could be playing on Jan. 8th.

Now I know win all your games and take care of that, but the last time a SEC team went undefeated they were left out of the title game, b/c of the couple cake teams they played at the beginning of the season.

I feel the same for teams in the big ten. I think you could take a team like PSU this year, that will probably finish 4th in the big ten put them in the big east with a couple cake walk non-conference games like Temple and Buffalo and they would be playing in the NC game.

It is a freakin' joke and IMO college football either needs to tell these teams that they need to reach out and schedule top teams from the SEC, Big Ten and I am sure teams would love to do that to shut up the hype wagon or else a two loss team say like an Auburn whose loses were to Florida and say GA would be put ahead of them, b/c they have games on their schedule that are not show up and go through the motions.

I still think this is why college football will eventually get a playoff. A couple more years of having 3 or 4 teams deserve in the NC game and I think we will see it happen.

Ok I am off of my soapbox now.

I tend to agree, CB40... I get tired of hearing, for example, "Purdue will win the big ten because they skip OSU and Michigan" Facts are facts, mediocre teams are mediocre teams and it's ridiculous to put a mediocre team in contention simply because they have a shit schedule.

WVU's win over UGA last year certainly didn't help the BCS rid itself of the Big Least's participation. And, that's really too bad... It used to be Miami was assured a Big Least championship... now it seems WVU is.

Exactally and here is another small little beef I have. NCAA loves their bowl games, but what do they always get out of them. UGA didnt want to play WVU and it showed. What were they playing for???? Nothing but pride and WVU was playing for a chance to be noticed. So as it showed UGA actually played in the second half after they had showed up with no emotion in the first half. It took a fake punt for WVU to hold on to a 28 point lead.

Put this game in a playoff setting and WVU gets thrown around like a rag doll as UGA comes out knowing that if they win they get a shot at the NC.

Quinn practically has his name engraved on it already.
It will take a major screw up for Quinn not to be given it.
It's what people want to see happen.
I agree but on the other hand felt the same way about Peyton Manning back in '97.

The Miami pick by Kirk in the championship game really surprised me. Seems like they've had a lot of losses lately due to disciplinary issues as well as the huge coaching staff turnover.

Here's my 2 cents worth....

We have a LOAD of talent on defense. Talent translates to speed when the game slows down and you only have to react and not think too much. That only comes with experience.

While I understand some people's points that we have a fairly inexperienced defense, I still feel that we are as good, if not better, than every other team we face. Bottom line...win every damned game and they can't say shit.

I totally agree. To put it another way, many Buckeye "critics", professional or otherwise, would have us believe that "unknown" and "inept" are synonymous.
They're not!
