College Football via Internet TV

Regarding ESPN on Vue last night. It was a good pic and stream. Still, it felt more like watching ESPN 3 on my computer than a cable broadcast. Up until now, I've only watched Cubs games on CSN and Formula 1 on NBCSN. In both those cases, the streaming was indistinguishable from a cable broadcast.

I've been using Vue since the beginning of last season and I've never had a problem with it (other than my internet cutting out for a second around 5 minutes left on Thursday). To me, it's been a fantastic investment.

Granted, it is behind the cable broadcast, but I don't read forums during the game, and I just turn my phone on silent so I can respond to texts when I feel like it and not get notifications before things happen.

Just took a chance and plugged the cable from my modem in the TV yesterday and it has all the basic channels in SD along with my locals in HD. Hooked up a splitter and the HDHomeRun Prime I had laying around and now I get 3 tuners on my Plex DVR without having to deal with the OTA BS. Still have SlingTV for HD non-broadcast, but getting a good signal on all the OTA channels has been a pain with the antenna. HDHomeRun Connect only has 2 tuners as well, which sometimes caused issues. Only problem now is how much of a CPU hog Plex is when I try to play DVR's videos the night of. By morning I can convert everything to a better format, but it takes time and a ton of CPU.
This reads like Greek to me.

I hit the power button and cable comes on through my box.

And $$ goes out thru your wallet.
Correct. That's why I have used the free ones for years. It's a little annoying that full screen isn't available without subscription. Never had an issue--just don't click on anything after clicking the link. But, as mentioned by someone else regarding the burner laptop, I intend to use this old work horse for streaming once I get a newer machine. I don't want whatever parasitical or infectious items those sites might inject going into my next computer.

I am careful about clicking on anything other than the direct link to feeds. Plus, as I mentioned, I run AdBlock, so all I normally see are little blanks with x's on them before the actual game shows up. That, and Norton for my security system. Watched occasional games on there (FirstRow) for years--never had an issue.

I used to use HideMe. Haven't really bothered for a while. I seriously don't know the answer--is using First Row the same kind of offense as downloading movies or TV from Pirate Bay?

I have no idea. I also don't know how they can possibly regulate it all. There are twice as many internet connected devices as there are people on the planet. I watched the fight last week on Instagram lol.

In my experience, the only time I've ever gotten a nasty email from using Pirate Bay was when I forgot to close uTorrent. If I don't seed, I'm fine.

Never actually used Pirate Bay. When I had my VPN, I did use another torrent site. Not for movies, but old TV series mostly. Haven't done it for a year or two, though.

My favorite torrent that I've ever download was Metallica's entire catalog. The first comment was, "Lars isn't going to be happy about this one." I don't even listen to them, really. I just downloaded it out of spite.
