College Football Playoff (2017-2018 Season)

ant80

Think less, feel more.
The first playoff rankings are coming out on Tuesday (October 31).

Personally, this season, I'd like to see the following in the final College Football Playoff Rankings.
1. Alabama/Georgia
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Notre Dame

I anticipate the following in this week's rankings
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Wisconsin

What do you guys think is going to be announced Tuesday?

I don't think it will happen but ND deserves to be in over Wisconsin right now. Wisconsin's schedule has been awful. They won't play a ranked team until the Big Ten Championship

I expect on Tuesday it will be

1) UGA
2) Bama
3) Clemson
4) ND
5) OSU

Clemson/ND could easily swap places. I can see the possibility for OSU to be in the 4 spot, but I don't expect us to land any higher than 4 right now.

it would be one thing if wisconsin were blowing out their poor schedule. but they haven't. today, they beat a horrible illinois team by only 14 points and were nearly out-gained. two weeks ago, they beat purdue by only 8 and led by only 8 for the last 20 minutes. i wouldn't place wisconsin above notre dame, clemson, or oklahoma. they deserve to be about #11 despite being undefeated.

Uh, how are Clemson and the Domers goint to jump us, after we just beat #2?

Because the committee doesn't have to consider any existing poll. They're their own poll and do as they damn well please, which we've seen them do each season so far. I think they've generally stuck pretty closely to the existing polls when all is said and done (especially the first week or two), but they could very well decide to put ISU in the top 10 for all we know, because the current polls mean fuck all to them.

With the results from today there are 4 remaining unbeatens, but there's no way they put Wiscy in the top 4 in my IMO, so we'll definitely be above them. Duh U is escaping games and not showing that much, so I don't think they're above 6, but maybe above Wiscy in the CFP rankings. Obviously 1 and 2 are UGA and Bama. That gives you a 4-way battle for 3 and 4, as I see it based on current rankings and games I've watched; ND, OSU, Clemson, and Okie. All are now 7-1, 2 have a "quality loss" (ND with the best one, to UGA), and ND has looked actually not bad from the short bits I've seen of them. Okie has the win over us, but I think the loss to ISU obviously negates that, plus today's win over PSU. Clemson is still a bit of a question mark to me, but they seem to be playing at least decently outside of their loss. I think they give ND the nod at #3 given what I mentioned, and OSU in at #4. After thinking a little more and typing it out, I can definitely see the case for OSU at #3, but I think #4 is most likely, and I feel more comfortable sliding Clemson down to #5, maybe #6 or 7 if the committee likes Wiscy/Duh U being unbeaten that much more, but I doubt it.

I'll go with:
  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia
  3. Ohio State
  4. Clemson
  5. Wisconsin
  6. Notre Dame
  7. Miami
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Penn State
  10. Oklahoma State
However, the only really important thing for Ohio State next week is to beat Iowa. Just win out and you don't have to worry about the rankngs.

In reality the final CFP should be:

1. SEC winner if Alabama or Georgia wins out
2. B1G winner if Ohio State or Wisconsin wins out
3. ACC winner if Clemson or Miami wins out
4. Big XII winner if Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, or TCU wins out
5. Notre Dame if they win out
6. PAC-12 winner if Washington or Wshington State wins out
7. a 1 loss Penn State could slip in with some losses (above)

Win out we are in. I love controlling our own destiny.

However, if I'm OU fan I'm pissed.

I would like a rematch so I'm hoping for OU to win out.

I hate ND damn near as much as I hate ichigan and the pedos but hats off, they are earning it.

PAC12 gets left out, all other champs will get in unless we get some ridiculous 2007 level shennanigans. I don't think a non-champ getting in is too likely.

Notre Dame sucks, they're getting catapulted by beating teams that should have never been ranked. I would put them at 9th or 10th until we see what happens against Da U.
