Pop.

Knew a guy from Wisconsin that called wedgies, "grundies."

Also, don't ever ask anyone on the east coast where the nearest Putt Putt Golf is.

They have no idea what you are talking about. They call it Miniature Golf which is what it should actually be called.

I say soda when its absolutely necessary. Soda to me though, is jsut carbonated water.

But, I despise the sound of the word "pop," I don't know why.. I'm just aesthetically against it.

Quite honstly... I go out of my way to use the specific variety of carbonated beverage I want, even when speaking generally... Like, Jack and Coke, Seven and Seven, etc.

And what is with NE Ohio calling the grass between the sidewalk and the road "Devil Strips". I didn't even know that area of grass had a name until I started dating someone from Akron.

They're called tree lawn's

Oh yeah... I say pop when I'm generalizing but I order by name at a restaurant (I'll take a Mountain Dew please)

I say pop, my wife says soda... were both from Cleveland.

The first time time I heard bubbler in Wisconsin I almost laughed in the guys face who told me that's what a drinking fountain is called. In Wisconsin they also call ATM's Tyme machines, it stands for Take Your Money Anywhere. I had an employee of mine tell me he was going to the Tyme Machine... I just sat there wondering what the hell he was talking about.

My freshman year at tOSU, about half of my floor was from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, half from Ohio. We all went 'round and 'round on this. The Ohioans all said "pop" (including myself), the others said "soda". Anybody who says "coke" is a fucking dumbass.

We also argued over over "sucker" (Ohioans, generally), or "lollipop" (others).

I believe the TYME machines you refer to are bank sponsored.... they are all labelled that. I don't quite remember if that is a bank name or what.
