Coaches on the supposed hot seat

I gotta believe Spurrier's days are numbered, either by himself or by a lynch mob. Personnaly I'd miss him. I look forward to watching him eating a shit sandwich, grabbing his hat, running his hands through his hair and then getting that look on his face. Got to be the biggest whiner in all of CFB.
What's so dumbfounding is that he's had some stellar WRs and defenses in his time at South Carolina. His supposed specialty, the offense and specifically the QB position, has been what has held that team back.

I'll tell you what, the natives have been getting restless in Virginia since at least 2007 and probably before. It's kind of counterintuitive but I don't think last week's game actually changed much.

There are a few things in life that I just under no circumstances can possibly comprehend...one of them is how Al Groh still has a job. Virginia alums were bitching that George Welch couldn't win more than 8 games to save his life, well Al Groh can't do shit to save the solar system. There is nothing about Al Groh that is not terrible, and yet he is still a head football coach in the ACC. Amazing.

I'm thinking he's got some very old daguerrotypes of T-Jeff with Sally Hemmings.

No, that's not a political comment, it's an anachronism. :wink2:

Al Groh has consistently done less with more than any other coach in the country. If you looked at his program's recruiting ranking (going by any major service) back through his arrival vs NFL draft placement for kids out of his program four or five years later, he has consistently had some highly touted high school kids that left his program as highly touted NFL prospects.

How he loses to both William and Mary is befuddling.

Groh should have been fired five years ago. Instead, he got a huge new contract. He then should have been fired two years after that contract, so Virginia exercised their option to add another year to the deal.

I do not understand it.

27 staffs stay intact: By our research, only 27 of 120 programs have the same 9 assistant coaches today that were in place at the beginning of August practice. UAB, Army, Auburn, Baylor, BC, BYU, Clemson, Fresno State, Iowa, ULL, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, San Diego State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Tulane, UCLA, VA Tech, Wake Forest, and Washington.

Football Scoop

So, you wanna be a college football coach? I would also wager a substantial amount of money that during this past season, you thought there would only be 26 of these teams listed by the end of the year.:wink2:

Actually, since assistant coaches are included, I'm surprised there are that many which have stayed the same. Everytime a head coach change is made there is a whole room full of assistants moving around too!

A lot of guys used their mulligan this year. Expect to see an above "normal" amount of movement among coordinators and assistants this year. Some high profile jobs will be on the line next year.
