Michigan recruit Turner won't play for Tigers

MASSILLON J.T. Turner isn't putting on his sneakers this winter.
The Massillon senior, a University of Michigan football recruit, will not play basketball for the Tigers, according to basketball coach Matt Creamer.
Turner, a 6-foot-2 forward, led the Tigers in scoring (16.1), rebounding (7.9) and steals (4.2) last year, while finishing second in assists (3.1). Without Turner, Massillon returns only two starters, senior Gio Caracillo and junior Trennie Richardson.
"My daddy always told me to dance with the girl that brung ya," Creamer said. "I can only talk about the ones who are here."
Creamer doesn't maintain any ill will toward Turner, who as a running back-defensive back earned All-Northeast Inland District honors recently. Turner rushed for 1,333 yards and 10 touchdowns, while picking off four passes and returning two of them for scores.
"I wish him the best of luck, except when they play the Buckeyes," Creamer said.
