That being so, chances are good both will be eligible in 2008 (that is, not suspended), if not in the dog house... yes?

Can't answer that one completely yet until the details come out....not avoiding, just being fair to the kids as this is still unverified...at least officially.

So is is set in stone that Chekwa is the new "#2" or does Amos have a shot? To follow that up is the person that gets beat out in that competition automatically become the default nickel back?

Also, if it's between Amos and O'Neal for nickel back (which is my guess) do we use Amos in passing and O'Neal in rushing situations?

As far as the news itself. Disheartening. Not because it hurts the team, but because these are kids and they are missing out on an opportunity that isn't guarenteed to happen ever again. It's sad. I hope the Buckeyes can go down there and take care of business to show that no one person(s) is bigger than the team (and this game). OH....

Unfortunately I fear that you cannot depend on that working. It is just as likely that a skilled OC would see Amos in and play the run, while with O'Neal in they go by air.

Agree with what you say about an opportunity lost - perhaps the last of their college career (as in it takes a lot to get to the championship game).

But it is confirmed that they are out for the NC game correct?

Officially...no. But we have it from multiple places we trust.

No,the details about what they are accused of are not even out yet.

Nor will they be...this is not a legal matter and therefore falls under the privacy laws for students.

We don't even want the speculation on these forums.

Thanks.

Hopefully Chimidi Chekwa is ready for this.Doucet and Byrd are very good players.
As 21 pointed out, if something like this was destined to happen, it's "best" that it happened now, so that preparations can focus on those who will play. I have confidence in Chekwa. I would be more worried if LSU was a more of a spread option team. Yes, losing DW hurts, but I wouldn't call it a back breaker. And, I really like DWs play this year. He's been - by my estimation - outstanding. But, again, I don't believe the game turns on his presence.
