sowers has given up 1 earned run over his last 14 innings in buffalo. when he first got back down there he got shelled. it seems he's finally gotten himself back on track somewhat.

i would say that each gets one more start, and if sowers does well and lee blows ass again, the switch needs to be made.

You definitly don't want to bring Sowers back up if he is just now getting his confidence back but can you wait on Lee to pitch one more game? I know that sounds silly but every game is important even if its end of july.

I don't think sending Lee to Buffalo would prove anything. He probably would dominate in the minors because of his experience with the Indians. Plus, I don't think you send a guy to the minors who is making as much money as Lee just to try and get him straightened around. I wouldn't mind sending him to the bullpen and let Stanton go. I would not bring Sowers back until he pitches if you more games in Buffalo and regains his confidence instead is indeed his problem. I would bring Laffey up and see how he does as a starter.
There is also the possibility of trading Lee but I don't know what you would get for him. Probably not much at this point.

He can't even get the most borderline of major leaguers out right now, so I'm not so sure he'd dominate in AAA.

Aaron Laffey

It's being reported that Laffey is going to get called up to take Lee's spot in the rotation.
If this is true it is a shocker to me. Talk about a fast track to the majors!
This kid is in his early twenties and started last year at Kinston! Was moved to Akron last year and started this season with the Aeros before being promoted to Buffalo.
If they promote him and put him in the rotation it could be because he is a lefty and they have no confidence in Stanford. But they also may not want to put Laffey in the bullpen as they are grooming him as a starter and Stanford has settled in as the long reliever.

I'm going to check but I think he was something like 5-1 with the Bisons with an ERA in the low threes.
