Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

In other news, I get to watch the game as I tend to get White Sox games (and Cubs :shake:...and Reds- which I don't mind- except this weekend :p).

Hafner has the day off.

Masterson in trouble early. 1-0 bad guys. And Brantley has a noodle for an arm. Eek.

Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe the Indians' at bats today.

Peavy is starting his second game of the year. He threw 87 pitches his first game out. There's little doubt he would go much more over that today.

He's at 65 pitches through 6 innings. 65. Just give the guy a complete game on a limited pitch count. :shake:

Had a 6 pitch 5th, and a 5 pitch 6th. That's terrible.

This ump has the highest strike zone I've seen in the Majors in a while. Calling things way up.

Perhaps, correctly, but definitely not what most do.

And I gotta agree with what yoyo said earlier. While I've admired Santana's discipline and ability to get on base through the walk. He's gotta start going after some pitches and driving in runs. He's had a couple 3-1 counts where he's taken a fastball for a strike. Cleanup hitters don't do that. Let it rip kid.

He's horribly miscast as a cleanup hitter at this stage in his career. Maybe someday he'll be there, but he does not have the mentality right now. Like I've said over and over, I think he'd benefit from having that pressure taken away and moved down in the lineup, but who replace him?

This game is brutal. The Tribe at bat tonight has been the equivalent of watching the Browns offense.

his biggest problem is that he isn't a situational hitter. when he has a guy on third and less than two outs, and he gets 2 strikes on him, he doesn't shorten up and hit for contact.

but in his defense, when you have travis buck and shelly duncan behind you, you had to take matters into your own hands.

that being said, that up and down strike zone was peavey's saving grace.
