Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

I'm not panicking, Just saying maybe getting the pressure off one or both of them wouldn't hurt. Pronk has hit 3 and 4 in the past, if he's healthy, he can handle it.

(The second scenario is a bit panicky, but, I've always viewed Sizemore as more of a 3 or 5 guy than a leadoff guy-- doesn't make me right)

I wouldn't call it panicking, just a preemptive strike. Bottom line, aside from the occasional flash, the meat of the order has been a black hole...and with the guys that have been picking up the slack beginning to come back to earth a bit, it might be time to move Pronk (who has been their most consistent hitter) up, and get Santana out of there. Maybe he responds to having the pressure of batting cleanup lifted off of him. I like the idea of Grady/Pronk/Choo at 3/4/5 for now. They can't continue to hope that the pitching is going to bail them out every night and rely on guys like OCab/Hannahan/whoever getting timely hits. With most of the division struggling, now is the time to build a cushion, not rest on your laurels.

Yeah, I mean they could go .500 over the next 30, and their 21-9 start would still be enough to keep them in first I think. If Weaver and Haren get them, hell, it won't be the first or last for those 2, so that's cool. It's more worriesome with no-name jabronis like last night, but if they keep that to a minimum and hit at home, they should be fine if we can keep Germano and Durbin out of tie games.

Choo double clears the bases and brings in Grady and Droobs.

Santana single brings in Choo

and Hafner singles to make it 1st and 3rd- 2 outs. Awesome. That's a 3-4-5 lineup, now keep it up. :banger:

4-2 heading to bottom half of the 5th.

Well, Alex White's at 100 pitches so this may be it for him.

It will go down as a 'Quality Start' (6 innings, 3 ER to go along with 7 hits and 6 K's) and all-in-all I'd say it was. Vernon Wells was the only one to really do damage (2-run homer and a sac-fly). Looks like the Angels sprayed about 3 infield hits so a bit unlucky in that department.

For a young guy, can't ask for much more. Same goes for the entire starting staff as a whole. What a tear they've been on. Hopefully the Indians can hold on and get a W in the White v. Weaver matchup.

...then take the afternoon game tomorrow! :)

nail biter in the 9th...perez looked like bob wickman out there

and i might not have to watch games anymore...i will instead check the scores and see if kansas city won or loss already for the day...im not going to check but i would be interested to see how many games now it has been that the indians win/kansas city won, indians loss/kansas city loss...not saying its a bad thing but i would love to gain more ground on KC

Well, fuck...I keep trying to find reasons to doubt these guys, and they keep proving me wrong. Time after time. Beating the front runner for AL Cy Young in his house? Maybe these guys are fo' real. On pace for 110 wins.

They mentioned at the top of the telecast that, the As, and the Angels, were 1, and 2 in the AL in ERA. Even if we lose tomorrow, we will still have gone .500 against them. That's really, about all you can ask from a west coast road trip.

I have to say, that 5th inning was really something...2 guys working walks out of 0-2 counts, then 2 hits by guys that were struggling, all against the best pitcher in the AL so far, who didn't strike out a single guy all game. I don't want to make too much of it, but when was the last time guys at the top of our order worked counts like that, especially against an ace? They really earned this one tonight, and RAGE looked much better (topped out at 94), which should allay some fears and Keith Foulke comparisons. Nice to get a win in this series...I doubt the can get Haren tomorrow, but with the way this team is working it, who knows?
